Mother City Adventures - A gorgeous day out exploring our beautiful CAPE TOWN... tourist style!
It is not every day that you get to travel around your home town doing all the "touristy things" and it is also not every day that you get to stand on top of one( the Seven Wonders of the World - Table Mountain! Yes, it is on our doorstep but aside from a free annual visit on your birthday, as a Capetonian it is just not something we do very often because it is ludicrously expensive when you are paying in South African rands rather than an 18 to 1 pound ratio lol.
However, Dave's sister is down from the UK and she wanted to do a whole lot of touristy things so it seemed the perfect opportunity to jump on board - especially considering the fact that Jude has never been.
We headed up to the foot of the mountain to join the queue - and oh boy, was there a queue! I was actually blown away by the amount of people there! We thought we would be sitting in the queue until next week lol but it actually moved relatively quickly and the staff were exceptionally organised. The cable cars are also super quick so it really helped with speeding up the process... if it had still been the old cable car, we would no doubt still be waiting in line now! lol! Here is a pic of the old cable car...
and this, is what the new ones look like...
Although the trip up and down the mountain is really quick, it is still an amazing experience with the open air windows and rotating floor so you really do get a full 360 degree experience along the way!
Arriving at the top and stepping out onto the mountain is absolutely awe inspiring! You truly do feel like you are on top of the world and the views of our beautiful peninsula are simply breathtaking - in fact... NONE of my photos do the scenery ANY justice compared to seeing it with your own two eyes!
There is a path on which you can literally walk around the edge of the entire mountain top, so you get to see every single inch of our beautiful mother city, so that was what we headed off to do! The walk took about 45 minutes and cost me a few minor heart attacks as I watched Jude hopping from rock to rock always just that little too close to the edge for my liking lol. There are railings but I was surprised to see how many people disregarded them and went out onto the sheer rock edges... you definitely wouldn't catch me doing that lol.
Over the years, I have heard many people speak of how Cape Town is one of the most powerful energy centres of the world because of Table Mountain and I have to say that there is a very strong "presence" of spiritual enrichment that overcomes you when you are there. It is all consuming really.
Throughout the walk around the mountain there is plenty of beautiful fauna and flora to be seen too which adds a whole new dimension to the experience.
At the end of the round trip walk you are greeted with the restaurant which is deli style - so you walk through and collect whatever eats and drinks you want along the way and then you can go and enjoy a glass of wine and a bite to eat whilst soaking up the sun and the views - it really is a whole day experience, but we had other plans on the agenda so we grabbed a very quick bite to eat and then decided to get into the queue for the trip down.
Once we reached the bottom, we headed off to the V&A Waterfront to visit the Aquarium. I had only been once before and despite Jude having been several times, it is the sort of underwater experience that never gets old!
We took a nice slow gander around the aquarium - quite frankly, I think we were all grateful to experience the aircon inside after being scorched in the sun on top of the mountain lol!
The fascinating creatures to be seen are endless really but I have to admit that my two favourites were the adorable little seahorses and then obviously seeing the great white sharks!
It really is a fantastic place for kids to visit as they have so many live exhibitions, interactive activities and loads of other fun and equally educational stuff for them to get involved in.
Having come from the top of the mountain, peering down over endless ocean it was quite something to see the massive wall to wall tanks as it gave you a real perspective of the magnitude and magnificence of the ocean and all the life within it.
The first large tank that we stopped at was simply beautiful and I was so captivated by this enormous turtle who was almost "tame" in his/her behaviour.
Next off, we went to go and visit the penquins - also one of my favourites! They are truly the most adorable little birds and it was like stepping into the "happy Feet" movie lol!
After that was my absolute favourite part... the predators!!! And I will say that despite the glass between us, it was still really freaky being so close to these beasts!
That was pretty much a wrap for the aquarium, and I think it is safe to say that all of our legs were pretty much dead by that time, so we took a quick walk through the market as we headed off to plant our rear ends down at Quay Four and enjoy some lunch.
Although we were all dog tired by the end of the day - I must say that it really was the most spectacular day!
❤❤❤
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

Very awesome post. It gives me positive memories. I was there in April last year for 10 days. But I never went to Table Mountain so it is still on my list. I actually left my boots in Cape Town in order to come back :)
Thanks :) and hahaha! that is definitely a worthy excuse to come back ;) You will need to give a shout next time you do!
Yes, will do ;)
Looks like a great way to spend some time with the family!
And by the looks of it. You did find Nemo :)
Cheers,
Peter
lol oh boy did we find Nemo and all his brothers and sisters :D and yes, it was an amazing day out!
Great post!
Thank you :)
Stunning stunning - I can say I went up in the old and the new cable cars and climbed Table mountain many moons ago when I was still young and fit hahaha
hahaha wow hon! You have experienced more of it than I have hehe :)
Ha! Glad that you guys enjoyed the outing and some stunning photos here!
I see that Jude makes a perfect model for the shots.
Ever thought of entering him into the world of modelling?
Blessings!
hehe... interesting that you ask that.... a modelling agency contacted me today (from FB) and said they would like to have him onboard... problem is, he HATES the camera lol
Hahaha, I hated becoming a preacher my friend and if I had not relented, Papillon would never have been born.
That is your task now, to get him to surrender to the camera world.
A good way will be to convince him that it would only be a sideline and that he can still continue to do everything that he likes?
Fate works in strange ways as you well know and it could become a very lucrative sideline for him. Especially if he becomes famous which is very likely!
Blessings!
Absolutely. When I chatted to him about it and he realised there was money involved he changed his tune haha!!... then I burst his bubble and told him that money would be put into savings for him. hehe
Oh, I don't want to throw a cat in the sea here, but be very careful to check out any agency as one has to take extra care that he doesn't land up in the wrong hands.
Maybe be with him for every shoot is what I would advise!
Oh yes I know!!!! and yes I would absolutely be there!

All right, now I have to read more about that mountain. Of Table.
Thanks for the story!
hahaha I think you just need to VISIT it! ;) No doubt you would grab some AMAZING shots!
Am so jealous! I would love to visit south Africa some day. One of my friends who's currently in Thailand have asked me a few times already to visit her she goes home. Maybe I should take the offer. 😊
How long can you ride the cable car?
btw, awesome photos!

Oh man you should DEFINITELY take the offer... and when you are here, please DO connect!!!!!
The cable car ride was very quick... maybe 5 min max?
5 minutes is pretty quick. Does it move slow?
It IS pretty quick yes... and no its impressively fast actually!
Next time I will! Nights not be for few years because she just had a baby and they'll be moving to USA so she'll be very busy then. Life change drastically once you're a parent.
That would be nice, it'll be a pleasure to meet you in person.
Have you been to the Philippines?
Congratulations @jaynie! You received a sweet smile from TravelFeed. We love your work so keep up the good job. 😊

Very invigorating experience up on that mountain, fauna and flora always beautiful as well. Have had the good fortune of going up the mountain a few times in both old and new cable-cars.
Have never seen the aquarium in Cape Town. V&A waterfront we visited before big development with many historical buildings in the establishment, we did visit in early 1990's when it started to become popular as a visitors destination.
Much has changed below the mountain.
Yes, much changes all the time! Even for me... because we don't go to all these places very often lol, but still ALL so beautiful!
What a great trip I had with these pictures, it really is a beautiful place Cape Town!
Glad you enjoyed the post love, thank you! and YES.... Cape Town is TRULY breathtaking! We are blessed to call it home!
What a fun day you all had! That aquarium looked really neat and Table mountain... all I can say is wow! Those are some amazing views!! And going up and down on a hanging cable car like that is so cool! I would totally be one of the people going over the railings standing right on the edge. lol!
hehehe thanks @derekrichardon! I... imagine that you would be the kind that would NOT take the cable car, but rather hike to the top... which MANY do... and yes, also one of the EDGY types LOL! You would love it! They have an abseiling team up there too :)
Ooooo. I've done a little bit of abseiling. It's a lot of fun! I wanna do more. I just need to get my own harness so I don't have to borrow one anymore.
Yeah that would make sense. You will have to add my home town to your bucket list @derekrichardson :)
What a beautiful day! I don't know which pictures are my favourite- probably the one where Jude was in a box "surrounded" by clown fish?
