Gifting What's Important

The beauty of Christmas is that there is always love in the air. This is probably because of the celebration or people's expectations for one another. Gifts collected during Christmas are mostly treasured, even when they are not coming from a lover or loved one.

One important thing about giving is that you need to gift what is important if you want it to matter more. All gifts are appreciated, but if you want your gift to be more appreciated, please consider what the person whom you want to gift needs.

I remember the 2019 Christmas. I was working at Aiico Pension Management. It is a pension company, and it is a company that appreciates its workers at the end of the year with food items, money, and a paycheck. There was this guy in my street whom I was friends with; he wasn't from a rich background, and their family was struggling to get by daily. Sometimes, I see the craziest food combinations or food I have never seen or heard about before; they even inverted some food. This is to show you how bad their situation was. As a person who has experienced a hard time once in my life, I can totally understand what they were going through.

It was Friday at work, and the Christmas gifts for our department came. I got a half back of rice, money, and two hampacks. It was difficult moving all these things home myself, so I ordered an Uber to take me home from work. While on my way home, I looked at the packages I had gotten, and it was too much. I thought of it; Daddy was working, Mom was working, and my sister was working too. They will all get things from their company and bring them home; Christmas is going to be good. While thinking about everything, my friend came to mind. "How will Christmas be for them?"

I took one of the packages that had rice, oil, cookies, and many other things in them I couldn't check, got to the front of their door, and knocked. Ruth came out to open the door, and I screamed Happy Christmas in advance because Christmas was just 2 days to go. Their parents were home, and I was welcome into their home. I told them it was my gift to them, and they were so happy. I am sure what I gifted them would go a long way. I took out a little from the money I had and enveloped it for his dad.

I still wonder what made me do all these things because I was still very young. Was I thinking deeply at that time? Well, I had my own struggles, which made me mature.

For a while, his parents kept thanking me every time I visited them, which made me embarrassed at a particular time. I was glad I was able to gift them something that really mattered to them.

This brings us back to the topic of gifting what's important. Before gifting, think about it, and I am sure that the gift will be more appreciated. All gifts are good, but gifts are with the interest of the person in mind.
