Introduction - The Sword and Board Hobby Shop gets a Hive Account!

Hello everyone and welcome to the Sword and Board hobby shop in Milnerton, Cape Town, South Africa!

Sword and Board is a hobby store stockist, if you would like to have a look at what products we stock, we have a webstore on: https://swordandboard.co.za/

In a nutshell we stock Games Workshop game systems: Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, Kill Team, Warcry and others. You can also find Star Wars Legion and Infinity on our shelves. We also stock many other stand alone boardgames.

We also do many Trading Card Games: Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh and more!

Enjoy a small tour through the store so you can see what we have on offer!

We have a massive amount of hobby supplies, from rule books and paints...

... and many dozens of model kits up for sale from many factions and game systems.

Here you can see more model kits and more paints!

And yet more paints! We stock multiple brands. Some brands are liked for their colour, consistency or price.

There is a massive glass display case so hobbyists can see what it looks like when they paint and assemble the models that we stock!

Age of Sigmar Orruks!

A massive Adeptus Custodes army...

... So large that they cannot be viewed all on one photograph. You can see the Telemon Heavy Dreadnought and the Dropship here!

There is also a massive Blood Angels collection. The Custodes and the Blood Angels belong to Brennan Healey, one of the owners of the hobby store.

Here we see even more of the Blood Angels!

This collection includes Firstborn, Primaris and characters from multiple generations!

We have a Lizardman (Seraphon) army here and a custom painted Warhound Titan done by a commission painter (Michelle) of our local hobbyist community.

Here are some Chaos Daemons, many of which can be used for Warhammer 40,000 as well as Age of Sigmar, bar some Characters and a few specialist units.

More Daemons and a top-down view of more Blood Angels, these are for Horus Heresy.

Blood Angels, here you will see Horus Heresy pattern tanks and units.

A mass of ancient suits of Terminator Armor and battle tanks!

Here we can see the Sons of Horus with the Warmaster.

Here is another Age of Sigmar army, Sylvaneth.

On the right were we can see some Warhammer 40,000 Dark Angels. These are owned by Steven Groot Wassink.

Another view of the Dark Angels.

At the bottom here we can find some Horus Heresy Imperial Fists with Rogal Dorn.

Here on the right we can see a variety of models from Star Wars legion and Blood Bowl.

More paints and hobby supplies!

And here we have the heart of the store. The Gaming area where the social side of hobby comes to life! People come here to play boardgames, card games, dungeons and dragons, or to sit together and paint their various projects.

There is a lot of terrain and hobby supplies that supports the various gaming communities and this hall is also used to host many events throughout the year!

This is the start of a store-focussed Hive account for a store that is frequented by a few Hive users that blog about games and events in this location.

@zakludick is helping with the running of this account and blogs a lot about events and battle reports from here.
@xenowolfza and @owen-turner are also at the shop a lot to play Warhammer 40,000.
@lex-zaiya comes to the store to play Blood Bowl as far as I know.
@riesakashiya has not yet visited the store but takes part in community discussions on Whatsapp.

I hope that you enjoyed this post!

Sword and Board will mirror its announcements and advertisements on this blog page and hopefully, over time, the Hive community of hobbyists will grow and we can use this space to post all sorts of interesting things!

Cheers!

A great big welcome to the Sword and Board hobby store.

Well, yes, I did the writing of this post but Brennan and Steve do not know Hive so I will be helping them establish this blog page and build it up until it is worth something decent!

I have been looking forward to doing this post for a long time now, but I have wanted to put enough effort into it!

Calling in all warhammer/wargaming enthusiasts!

Welcome aboard! I'll delegate some resource credits to help you comment and post more often while you get started. The best way to build a good audience is to be a good audience for others, so create conversations!

Be sure to write down your keys and keep them somewhere safe. Here is another writer's overview of which keys do what. Beware of scammers who promise quick riches or mystery airdrops, and don't enter your keys anywhere carelessly.

The HIVE community tends to be welcoming, but rewards may drop off after your introduction. Remember that the biggest advantage to our platform is the resilience of a blockchain where you own your content. Persevere! The path to success is not always fast and easy. Avoid plagiarism and spam in your posts. You'll make progress in due time. Here's a great post from another blogger with some helpful advice, too.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I don't have all the answers, but I am glad to help if I can.

Well, even if you have him handle the posting, I suggest starting a routine of posts about specific games or products. Why is a certain card game the clerk's favorite? How do you use products X, Y, and Z to level up your miniature painting? That kind of thing. Just a couple posts each week will add up fast and hopefully draw an audience. And Zak doesn't have to do it all. He writes a lot as it is.

This is one of the most welcome posts I've seen on Hive for a very long time ! I'm in a similar niche over here in the UK, although purely online and focusing more on the model-making side of things. Seeing businesses come in on Hive and using it for content creation is an awesome development 😀

Something I can't use because I'm online, but which could work for B&M shops is Distriator, an app on the Hive platform which allows people to pay with HBD and then get cashback for posting about their purchases. It's still pretty small-scale, but it's a great way to get more people into Hive, and if you keep the HBD and put it into savings then you make 15% interest on it, which can build up to a nice additional revenue over time.

I look forward to seeing your posts !

Thank you very much @alonicus!

Yeah for now, we will just let @zakludick help us a bit. Going to be growing the HP and sticking all the HBD into savings. Who knows what will happen?
