Speakers, how do you use words?
Do you know what I find ridiculous in this modern society? It's the way people openly express cruelty through their speech.
There are tons of lousy and inconsiderate speakers who never care about the ears that listen to their words. They don't weigh the impact of their words on their listeners. Time and time again, they constantly say terrible things. They are only interested in pouring out their heart without a filter.
As you already know, the ability to speak is not limited to public speakers, live show anchors, podcasters or award-winning writers.
For this post, anyone that interacts with another person at any given level (formally or otherwise) is considered a speaker. We are all in this bracket so, read this thoughtfully.
Speakers, how do you use words?
If you are out there saying things without considering the effect those words can have on people, it shows that you do not understand the power of the words you use. Our ability to speak gives us all the nuts and bolts that can be used to build a good rapport with people, give words of advice, teach and inspire those around us.
Sadly, the start of most assaults and abuse has been through words. The same words that are supposed to be used in expressing love and concern are being used to hurt people and express cruelty.
As a teacher, when your student asks a 'useless question' as it's usually called, how do you react to such a question? Some teachers call students 'stupid' for asking a question. If people are cajoled for asking a genuine question in classrooms, how would they summon the courage to ask another question?
That's a mild scenario, yet it demonstrates how impactful our words can be in building or breaking people.
Remember, there is no excuse for using cruel words.
It's a crazy world out there and people are losing their chill by the day. When there is an outburst of emotions, people lose their heads and say all sorts of things out of anger.
Did you know?
A bad mood is never an excuse to use cruel words ~ quote source
We've got to be mindful of our choice of words because we are in danger of hurting those around us if we say things without thinking it through. Heal with your words instead of hurting people with cruel words.
Of course, none of these is meant to be a sort of censorship.

Well said my friend. The sad thing about it also is that, young ones can hear them too, and will somehow imitate their way of expressing cruel words. It's just so sad to imagine how suffocating this world could be sometimes.
YEAH! Young ones can easily pick up these habits and it just doesn't do anyone any good because when the young lads start using such words, it will spread like virus in the society at large.
Hmmm
This is food for thought!
I was once deeply hurt by words from a loved one at that.
I felt gloomy and down, I reflected on the question I asked that brought about the cruel word given to me and realized it is never a foolish question. Ever since that day, a vacuum was created in our relationship to avoid further emotional damage on my part.
Only if we would be mindful of the words that come out of our mouths.
Thanks for this great content 👍
Yeah. Words can ruin a lot of things. There is power in the words we use. Not just spoken words. Even the words we write on places like this can make a difference in people's lives.
We can use our writing ability to teach people about life and help them learn from our experience. If we are not conscious of these things, we will end up posting 'just anything' which will not add value to anyone.
Words are that powerful. !PIZZA
Exactly.... words.
words are important
they shape EVERYTHING. and people would do so well to realize this. lol I have been meaning to talk about a particular word that is driving me crazy lately. now your post is kinda making me want to write it hahahaha

Words are very valuable and it's a strong tool at our disposal which we can use the way we want.
Those of us that have experienced how it feels to be on the receiving end of words (both good and bad words) will never want to hurt people with our words. Hehe.
Have a blissful day.

Words are powerful and we need to be mindful of our words indeed. These are wise words indeed. It takes a strong mind not to be hurt by mean words.
Came here via Dreemport
Yeah. Mean words are usually hurtful and there is no way to measure the level of effect it usually has on people until we see such people sink into depression.
Hmmm! This is really food for thoughts and as I read through it, so many things came to mind and I should prolly make a post on this same topic using my own opinion. Words are mighty. Words can make and can also destroy. The truth is every single problem starts with words. Family issues between husband and wife and parents and kids. Countries that go to war are because of words. One person must have said something the other wasn't ready to accept or forgive.
Words are easy to throw out and once they are out there, we can't take them back. This is why everyone need a filter. We ought to learn how to filter out thoughts before we turn them into words and put them out there.
Great post.
Yeah. There was a time when people can engage in banter while watching sports games but nowadays, even a slight joke can lead to hostility. There is no room for unfiltered words in all areas of life. Even employees want to be spoken to with respect and I'm sure it's well deserved.
The starting point of any sort of relationship that will yield good fruit will surely have a lot to do with mindfulness in communication.
If we just say things because we feel like saying it, we may end up hurting people around us. Hehe.
Have a dazzling week ahead.
Yeah! We shouldn't always say things because we feel like saying them but because they need to be said. I don't like banters because it almost always generates into a full blown fights. I call them foolish jests. People saying hurtful things to others under the guise of banter when they actually mean these things. It's crazy.
Words need to be watched by everyone.
