De Tommaso leading Targa Florio 2021 after super special stage

Hi, friends!

One of the newest Italian hopes Damiano De Tommaso shows that he can fight against big boys of rallying. He leads one of the oldest races in the world and there is a few of the motorsport fans who didn't hear for this famous event.

Why do I write about third round of Italian Rally Championship?
Because nine years ago (2012) there was a terrible accident happened at Targa Florio when Craig Breen's co-driver Gareth Roberts lost his life after they hit armco barrier on the right side of the barrier.

That was the live special stage at Eurosport because Targa Florio was counted for Intercontinental Rally Challenge for that season. I must admit that IRC was really a good championship back in a days. Eurosport was the promoter of IRC, same as of European Rally Championship today. That's why IRC went into history - because of ERC.

So Breen wants to come back to the scene of the rally and to try better this time. What is even more strange is that his actual co-driver Paul Nagle was left at home (I don0t know the reason) because there is another young co-driver in the hot seat called Louis Louka.

I would bet that Louka was sent to that rally with Breen to be tested as a possible Neuville's co-driver for the future. Motorsport is all about professionalism and if there is better around, they will take better person. That's it.

So young De Tommaso leads the rally after super short first special stage, while another promising Italian star Tommaso Ciuffi is in 2nd position with Breen in 3rd place.

Super fast Hyundai driver Andrea Crugnola had really bad day with engine blown already at shakedown. That means instant retirement.

Tomorrow starts real action. Let the best win - as always...
