Cormorants and Hoarfrost / Kormorane und Raureif

Last Sunday I promised to show the two cormorants I have seen on the island in larger versions today.

Am vergangenen Sonntag hatte ich versprochen, heute die beiden Kormorane, die ich auf der Insel gesehen habe, auf der Insel in größeren Versionen zu zeigen.

I only had my 70-200mm lens with me on this day and the island and the cormorants were unfortunately a bit too far away. A few days later I went there again at about the same time, but there was neither fog nor cormorants at the lake.

Ich hatte an diesem Tag nur mein 70-200mm Objektiv dabei und die Insel beziehungsweise die Kormorane sind leider doch etwas zu weit weg gewesen. Ein paar Tage später bin ich um etwa die selbe Zeit nochmals dorthin gefahren, aber weder gab es Nebel, noch waren Kormorane am See.

For this reason, I first show the photos from last Sunday. Because of the fog, the photos look softer and somehow have a painterly effect, at least in my humble view.

Aus diesem Grund zeige ich zuerst die Fotos vom letzten Sonntag. Durch den Nebel schauen die Fotos weicher aus und haben irgendwie einen malerischen Effekt, zumindest meiner bescheidenen Ansicht nach.

Since there were no cormorants at the lake, I do know a place not far away where I've always seen some of these big birds: trees on the opposite side of the reservoir.

Nachdem am See keine Kormorane zu sehen gewesen sind, weiß ich aber nicht weit entfernt einen Ort, wo ich bis jetzt immer einige dieser großen Vögel gesehen habe: Bäume auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Stausees.

The birches and a few neighboring trees apparently serve as a meeting place for the birds, because there were many cormorants each time.

Most of these black birds have been sitting in the surrounding trees and some on the birches. The distance to the other side of the reservoir was also almost too far for my 150-600mm lens to take hand held photos, and because of the relatively dark background, the black birds are quite difficult to recognize.

Die Birken und ein paar Nachbarbäume dienen den Vögeln anscheinend als Versammlungsplatz, denn jedes Mal waren dort viele Kormorane.

Die meisten der schwarzen Vögel sind in den umliegenden Bäumen gesessen und einige auf den Birken. Die Entfernung bis zur anderen Stauseeseite war auch für mein 150-600mm Objektiv fast zu weit, um aus der Hand zu fotografieren, und wegen dem relativ dunklen Hintergrund kann man die schwarzen Vögel nur schwer, aber doch erkennen.

The meeting seemed to have just ended when I arrived with my camera because a lot of the birds flew away at that moment and only a few stayed. Otherwise, the birches and the other trees are mostly full of birds.

Die Versammlung schien gerade zu Ende gegangen zu sein, als ich mit meiner Kamera angekommen bin, denn viele der Vögel sind in dem Moment weggeflogen, und nur ein paar sind hocken geblieben. Sonst sind die Birken meistens vollbesetzt von Vögeln.

A few weeks ago during a walk there was a woodpecker on the tree next to me, perfectly posing for a nice photo. I watched him a while. I had my camera with the 70-200 in my hand, but as soon as I moved my hand up the bird hopped on a granch behind the tree and then he flew away ... no, it's not only you ;)

I had a similar thing with an eagle here, I spent close to an hour walking back and forth along the beach as it flew back and forth just out of range, I never got a good shot of it

Guten Morgen. 6.30 Uhr. Frau ist arbeiten und ich bin dann Frühaufsteher.

Frisch ist es heute früh. knapp 14 Grad nur und das ist definitiv zu kalt für diese Jahreszeit. Lange Hosen und ne Jacke sind keine Sommerklamotten. So viel zur Klimaerwärmung.

Hoffe bei Dir ist das Wetter besser und Du findest das was Du suchst.

Guten Morgen Peter 🙂

Ich arbeite heute den ganzen Tag und das Wetter wäre regnerisch, wenn es nicht so kalt wäre, weshalb es leicht schneit, aber so leicht, dass es wahrscheinlich ein paar Tage dauern würde, bis der Boden weiß wäre ;)

Suchen tue ich heute eigentlich nur einen ruhigen Tag im Büro, an dem ich alles erledigen kann, wozu ich während der Arbeitswoche nicht komme ;)

Ich könnte zwar auch Zeitausgleich dafür nehmen, zumindest für einen Teil, aber ich habe genügend Plusstunden und gerade mal einen Tag Urlaub vom Vorjahr verbraucht.

Ich arbeite ja auch für Geld. Im Moment geht es nicht anders, denn Andere wollen ja Geld von uns haben.

So ist das System ausgelegt.

An uns liegt es dieses zu ändern.

Die Hoffnung soll man nie aufgeben und dein Weg ist sicher ein guter.
Vielleicht komme ich in einigen Hundert oder Tausend Jahren wieder als Mensch auf die Welt und alle leben glücklich und zufrieden in einem Schlaraffenland mit Robotern, die alles tun. Wäre doch cool 🙂

Du musst es dir beim Sterben nur ganz fest vorstellen und dich durch nichts ablenken lassen, dann funktioniert es ... wäre schön, oder?
Oder cool wäre auch, wenn man sich wirklich erinnern könnte, weil eine Intuition kann man auch verwerfen.

Fauler Sonntag ist gut :)

Mal sehen, eigentlich habe ich genug zu tun. Also mit faul sein ist nichts.
6.50Uhr 19,4 Grad ist schon mal ein guter Anfang.
28 sollen es werden. Die Sonne kommt gerade hoch. Leider geht die hinter dem Berg auf, so dass ich keinen direkten Sonnenaufgang sehen kann.

Na man kann nicht alles haben.

Jetzt ist auch bei uns die Sonne rausgekommen, womit ich heute eigenlich nicht gerechnet hätte. Vielleicht wird der Tag doch nicht so faul werden, aber tun muss ich eigentlich nichts, denn ich habe da Knochenende 😉

Zu den schönsten Sachen gehört, wenn morgens die Sonne durch das Fenster scheint und man durch das Sonnenlicht geweckt wird. Das hatten wir zu Hause und am Berg und jetzt leider nicht mehr. Ich würde sagen, wir holen uns jeder einen Bagger - du ebnest den Berg ein und ich das Nachbarhaus im Osten ;)

Gute Idee aber nützt nichts. Die Sicht aus unserem Schlafzimmer geht auf den Garten hinaus und die Sonne kommt von links aber hinter uns hoch.

Aber schon alleine der Blick in den Garten ist unbezahlbar.

Tja, da hast du ein Problem - der Berg ist keines, aber das Schlafzimmer zu verlegen wird schwierig, denke ich 😉

Ein Blick in den Garten ist natürlich auch schön - sicher viel schöner als bei uns: vor unserem Schlafzimmerfenster steht ein großer Nadelbaum in der Wiese, ansonsten würden wir direkt zum Nachbarhaus sehen, das aber glücklicherweise auch verhältnismäßig weit entfernt steht. Da kenne ich andere Wohnblöcke, wo man alles sieht, was beim Nachbarn vor sich geht, wenn keine Vorhänge an den Fenstern sind.

Die Gefahr besteht hier nicht, der nächste Nachbar ist mindestens 80 Meter weit weg.

Wenn ich heute nochmal dieses Schlafzimmer bauen würde, dann mit einem Fenster im Dach, damit ich den Sternenhimmel sehen kann wenn ich einschlafe.

Vielleicht setze ich diese Idee ja noch irgendwann mal um :)

Fenster im Dach? Kenne ich von einem Bekannten und finde ich super, nur prasselt der Regen ziemlich laut drauf. An das gewöhnt man sich natürlich und ich denke mir, heutzutage gibt es sicherlich auch Fenster mit einem Spezialglas, das nicht so laut ist. Aber der Ausblick im Liegen nach oben ist schön 🙂

Na dann sollte es kein Problem sein - das Glasfenster dürfte dann sogar leiser sein ;)
Ich habe schon unter Metalldächern geschlafen bzw hatte auch mal ein Nachbarhaus im Urlaub ein Metalldach. Das ist schon ziemlich laut gewesen, aber nach ein paar Tagen gewöhnt man sich etwas daran und im Laufe der Zeit hörst du es wahrscheinlich gar nicht mehr, denke ich.

Manchmal schlafe ich so tief, dass ich nichts höre, so wie du und manchmal wache ich schon auf, wenn unser Kater über den Parkettboden zum Futternapf marschiert. Dazu muss ich aber sagen, dass unser Boden schon alt ist und knirscht.

Wenn ich müde bin braucht es schon gewaltiges um mich wach zu machen.

Stimmt, das sagtest du schon mal. Ich habe meine Schlafenszeiten, die ich während der Arbeitswoche ziemlich einhalte, und dann schlafe ich auch gut ein.

Wenn ich frei habe, dann gehe ich relativ gleich früh schlafen, stehe aber auch schon mal viel früher als um 5 Uhr auf, damit ich recht viel von meiner Freizeit habe ;)

Nur wenn meine Maus zu Hause ist, schlafe ich etwas länger.

Es ist halt zu schön wenn man sich morgens nochmals an etwas Warmes kuscheln kann :)

Great photos @johannpiber, beautifully soft,as you describe that yourself. And you right they're looks like paintings.
I am surprised to see cormorans in the winter time in the Alps. I always thought that this birds migrate south for winter.

I know that you will read this in the morning so you will need some !COFFEEA . and maybe some !BEER for your lunch break 😉.

I do not know, if they just meet there and fly to the south later, or if they stay, but I have seen them there last year too, so they might as well stay over the winter.

It was a beautiful, calm and peaceful morning there at this lake. The hoarfrost and the fog have painted such a nice picture and all I had to do was to press the shutter button 😉

Ha! Those birds were smart to fly when they saw you coming sir johannpiber! Most creatures do don't they? What are those things, are they fishing birds? They look to be the size of a hawk or eagle?

They are very big, bigger than hawks and they are called Cormorants. Yes, they are fishing birds as far as I know.
I think I arrived there just when they have finished their meeting and only the bosses stayed for some small talk ;) lol

You said it and I meant it, bu tI didn't want to write it ;)
Wildlife photography needs patient photographers, and my patience lasts 5 or 10 minutes, sometimes even half an hour, but I cannot sit and wait for hours day after day, just to finally get one good shot.
But maybe next time when I'm on vacation at my parent's house I'll take my time and try some wildlife photography again.

A !BEER has to be cold to taste good 😉

If I know the deer will come out of the woods for sure, then I might have the patience to wait, but if I cannot be sure whether it comes today or tomorrow or even later, then I won't have the patience I think ;)
