In Zhongxing 1st Alley of Taichung, there are twelve old dormitories originally belonging to the Waterworks Company. Through the Green Light Project, these buildings have been transformed into a small community for independent creators to settle in. The main themes here are art, culture, and creativity, providing a place for those who want to promote their creative ideas. Through collaboration, gathering, and joint marketing, they aim to achieve better commercial success. I found this spot online, and it seemed quite unique, with many people coming here to take photos and "check in," so I made a special trip to visit.

As I walked into the alley, I saw a mural by artist Ku Pi-ling. She is a resident artist here and hopes to capture the flowers and trees of daily life through watercolor, conveying her love and appreciation for plants through her works. To her, the omnipresent greenery is a vital source of spiritual and emotional healing. Her artworks have a strong connection to plants and exude a relaxing, natural vibe.

Since these are old dormitories, green plants climb over the red brick walls, breathing new life into the old buildings. The traditional decorative tiles carry the memories of older generations. In the courtyard, you can see an ancient banyan tree, some parts of which extend into the house, giving the feeling of being one with nature. Many of the shops here are designed with great creativity. Just from the exterior, it was hard to tell what kind of products they were selling. I wandered into an American-style select shop, where the front featured a classic American vintage car cut in half—it was super cool! There was also an old-fashioned gashapon machine, the first time I had ever seen one. I immediately rushed in to check out the shop, which was filled with heavily American-style items, like second-hand clothes and Hollywood movie posters.

Aside from the shops on the ground floor, there are many located on the second floor. If no one had guided me, I might have missed them. But upon going up, I discovered that all the second-floor rooms are connected, with an open outdoor space. Enjoying coffee and desserts here has its own charm. Though it's not as bustling as the Audit Village I’ve explored before, it feels more relaxed and leisurely. If it weren’t for my packed schedule, I could have spent an entire afternoon here without getting bored.
