Twas a Good Christmas Party
I just got back from my company's Christmas dinner and gift exchange. Today marks the second last day before I go on a long holiday break until the New Year so it was a pretty relaxing day for me. Of course, I had some work that is needed to be done before I go on this long break, but nothing too hard. One thing I like about this company is that we always have company events quite often which helps us in bonding with one another. So it was no surprise that we will be having our own Christmas party and secret santa gift exchange.
We booked a seafood restaurant for this Christmas dinner. The unique thing about this restaurant is that they actually just throw the seafood that you've ordered onto the table in front of you and you can just dig in. Literally, dig in. They also provided plastic disposable gloves so you wouldn't have to dirty your hands. The package included crab, prawns, oysters and mussels. You even get to choose your sauce for the seafood. We chose Butter Cream Milk as our base sauce and there were others, Original Cajun, Curry and another one.
That's pretty much how the food was served. They just pour the seafood platter right in front of you and you can start chomping away. The buttercream milk was pretty tasty. Not too rich but just nice. For a meal package like that including crab, it was around RM300(75 usd) for 6 people and if you opt to not have crabs in your platter, it is about half the price, 35 usd. I would say that this place is a good place for group dining because the whole fun of it is to just have a go at digging into the platter. No politeness needed. From peeling the prawn to crushing the crab, everything is bound to make a splat on the table or even your shirt. So I would just say, enjoy the company and food.
gifts ready for exchange
About 2 weeks before this dinner, we all drew lots on the secret Santa gift exchange. If you've never played secret Santa, Secret Santa is a game where if you are a secret Santa for a person, you must secretly buy him/her the gift without revealing who you are. That person may or may not know who their secret Santa is at the end of the day depending on if you would want to keep it a secret, or reveal yourself.
We set a budget of RM30 (7.5usd) minimum price for the gift so we know it's all fair and people don't get shitty gifts. You know when someone gets a shitty gift when his or her face changes when getting it. I'm glad everyone got something they asked for from their wishlist. Which makes everything nicer. I myself got a card game called 'The Malaysian Dream'. It's a card game I actually wanted to buy for myself but didn't go through the hassle in checking it out in the online stores. Good thing, my secret santa knew what I wanted :)
Christmas is just around the corner and I can't wait for the long holiday. There would be a lot of amazing things happening in the year 2020, I just can feel it. So I hope that you'll be ending your year well. I hope that your Christmas and the New Year bring you much joy as you close this year a memorable one.
Thank You
