My Actifit Report Card: November 15 2019 Think Big
Think Big
Today was a telecommute day for me and I spend a fair bit of time sitting on my computer from early this morning, I think from 5 till about 8 I got more done this morning than I get done on a normal day at the office, then I was busy doing a few things around the house ion between checking work emails, then my wife saw a recipe for Chicken Pot Pie, with simple ingredients, that she wanted to try and after seeing so many great recipes on here I decided we should think big and go for it

And since I didn't take any photos today I looked through my Folders and found this Statue With Think Big on it for this post, I know this shot doesn't really give a sense of scale but it sure was big and you can maybe get an idea by seeing the covering over an entrance to a building beside it. The sculptor who made it for sure was thinking big
OKay so we realised we needed some ingredients, mainly the chicken and some low-fat milk we had the rest, and we also needed a pie dish, so we headed out to pick one up, first we went to Kohls as my Wife needed new slippers and they have the ones she likes, which they did, but ..
is it just me if you go to a big store looking for something two things happen,, they have moved it from where it used to be and you search back and forth all over before finding it, its never the first thing you see.
While there we checked for a pie dish there with no success, so we went to another shop by the mall, and luckily they had one and some other bits we needed but again took ages to find them, but then off to the supermarket to pick up the ingredients we needed., It was about 3:30 PM by the time we got home but we decided to go for it, made the filling easy enough even making our own chicken broth first as all the ones in store have ingredients my wife can't have, then made the filling, all was going good, we were thinking we have this, well I was being Mr Positive that I am.
Onto the Crust again pretty simple ingredients and easy to do, and off we went, mixed it up rolled it out, but I misjudged the size of the pie dish when I dropped it on it wasn't big enough to cover the pie, just barely but not enough, and then we realized we did not have any eggs to make an egg wash, so had to do a quick run to the supermarket to pick some up, got stuck in traffic by some road works, but made it there got the eggs and home we went for attempt two of the pie crust, and did better the second time and got it in the oven.
And the final result
It looked not to bad, Sorry just a quick snap with my phone, but we were both pretty hungry by this time and had to get it on our plates
And if you are wondering how it tasted, not to bad, if we try it again we will try some other changes and double check we have all the ingredients we need, and start earlier in the day, but it was edible, and filled the gap :)
So that’s my day have hardly been on here but will catch up this evening

Ohh yeah they sure can be this one wasn't quite that but not bad for a first try I guess
The crust turned out perfectly and that's the hardest part, for me at least!
Yeah I was quite pleased with how it came out first time we have made one from scratch
@tattoodjay ugh, I hate it when wanting to make something and not having all the ingredients. It looks very tasty, good job on the crust, too.

Since it wasnt a total success I for some !DERANGED reason decided not to share the recipe, and a !BEER would have been nice to wash it down

I have found about 100 Chicken Pot Pie recipes - maybe I'll ask my wife to give it a try and cook such an exotic food, but I'm afraid that she would call me !DERANGED 😉

Oh for us it may have been the flour, we go for one with out any of the additives that many have its !DERANGED when one starts reading the labels on food
But it actually wasn't to bad I enjoyed it but if we try again we will make some little changes, but wont add !BEER
If I did read all what's written on some labels of tood, I think I wouldn't buy anything - it's so !DERANGED what's in the food nowadays, so much chemistry.
My wife makes a delicious stew with !BEER but I haven't heard of a pie with it ;) lol
Ohh yes and !BEER is good for a beer batter and also my wife did an Irish stew with beer that was great

Yes, I like Irish Stew and !BEER goes certainly well with it.
I don't like to read the labels, especially the ones on food which I like to eat ;)

Me either with the reading of labels, but now its become a habit as often the wife and I eat the same things, trust me if you don't have to don't read them they could make you !DERANGED

My morning was early, but not really good, because as promised it began to rain in the evening and it didn't stop until midday. I have even been in the snow and in a !DERANGED heavy rainstorm in Italy today, but I think I could take a few photos 🙂

Glad you got out to get some photos eben if the weather was a bit !DERANGED, not sure i will today looks like rain and snow flurries on and off during the day, just enough to be annoying and drive one to !BEER

That's about 130 km west from me and 10 km east from my parents.
Tomorrow we will have better weather they say, but on Tuesday the snow and rain will be back until Wednesday, when the bad weather should be over for a while, but we'll see.

On workdays its a plus I have to get layered up so I get out, on Off days or telecommute days finding the motivation is such a struggle for me at the moment as I acclimatize to the cold I will get better i am sure and after thanksgiving all he festive trees and windows will be opening up and its a tradition for me to get and see and shoot shots of them each year

I know Thanksgiving only from TV, where the families come together and eat a turkey. Do you have a turkey on Thanksgiving?
Wikipedia says, after Thanksgiving the people begin with Christmas decoration. Do you also light your house?

We spend thanksgiving with my wifes son and his family and his wifes family, and yes complete with Turkey, I am not that big of a fan of Turkey so I have a little, but the Daughter in laws sister always does a great Meatball dish that I love,
and yes tradition has it to start the decorations after Thanksgiving, I know the tree will be up in there house already, we have a little tree we will most likely put up when we get back from visiting them, with it just being the two of us we do not do much these days

So, it is about the same we know from TV 😉
We don't have such family meetings here, where the whole family comes together, but it would be nice sometimes.
If it was my decision we would also have a small tree or maybe even no tree, but our kids are only 17 and they want a tree as well as my wife does. So we have a midsized one which doesn't take much space in the apartment ;)
I love Meatballs too - with a delicious sauce and mashed potatoes 🙂

I think a big tree that takes up so much room is !DERANGED unless you have a huge house my wife seems to have forgotten about the tree so far this year I kind of hope it stays that way lol

It's just wasted time and space to me, but it looks more like Christmas then, my wife says 🙂

Yes indeed maybe that was the case for me I had to many !BEER before I learnt this rule and could be the blame for why I am !DERANGED
But she is still with you and she is still happy with you, I believe 🙂

Yes, time runs much faster too - you have just sat down in a pub or bar and had a !BEER (or two ;) and suddenly it's time to go home - that's !DERANGED fast ;)
Lol true I used to say popping out for a !BEER that always ended up being a lie or !DERANGED it was never just one !BEER and always longer than I planned lol

We used to say "you cannot stand on one foot" which means you cannot drink only one !BEER ... but what we !DERANGED always forgot was that on 6 or more feet you cannot stand either ;) lol
LOL very true the biggest trouble I ever got in with my Ex Wife was going out after work on a Friday to an event that closed at 9PM and saying I would be home by 9:30, I got home at 9:25 and couldn’t understand why she was so upset, til I sobered up when I woke up the next morning to realize i got home at 9:25 Saturday Night , let me just say Navy Rum is more dangerous than !BEER and will for sure make one !DERANGED
Haha lol I have done such once, but only about 12 and not 24 hours, because then my wife might also be my ex wife 😉
I drank such hard drinks very seldom, but if I did I changed from quite nice to very !DERANGED - !BEER was bad enough, but ok ;)
That’s why I stuck to !BEER mostly I got bloated before I would get to !DERANGED
I didn't have this "bloat" problem and could drink !BEER far beyond !DERANGED ;) lol
Ohh I did I would get the bloated feel and stop drinking well before getting two drunk with !BEER mind you Maybe I was !DERANGED drunk and didn’t realize it lOL
This could also have been a reason, of course ;)
