¿Qué tal están mis amigos de Hive, y aquellos amantes al cine? Hoy he llegado con un post sobre una película que me llamo la atención desde el primer momento que leí sobre su estreno, se trata de nada más y nada menos que:

How are my friends at Hive, and those movie lovers? Today I came with a post about a film that caught my attention from the first moment I read about its premiere, it is nothing more and nothing less than:
The black phone
Hablemos de lo que sabemos sobre dicha película. Se trata de un secuestrador al que pueblo le llega a llamar temerosamente como “Él raptor” un hombre cuya cara cubre con una máscara. La historia se lleva a cabo en un suburbio de Denver en el año 1978.
El protagonista Finney Blake, un tímido niño de 13 años, que es secuestrado por el raptor volviéndose el sexto niño desaparecido. Finney estaba casi que daba por hecho su destino, pero de pronto se sobresalta cuando oye el teléfono desgastado que colgaba de la pared sonar. Y no fue hasta que lo hizo de forma incesante que decide responder e inmediatamente la voz al otro lado del teléfono le dice “no cuelgues.”
Tras este suceso se da cuenta que por medio de dicho teléfono puede comunicarse con las victimas anteriores del raptor, quienes deciden ayudar a Finney para que el no termine como ellos.
Let’s talk about what we know about that movie. He is a kidnapper who is fearfully referred to by the people as "He the Kidnapper", a man whose face he covers with a mask. The story takes place in a suburb of Denver in 1978.
The protagonist Finney Blake, a shy 13-year-old boy, who is kidnapped by the kidnapper becoming the sixth missing child. Finney almost took his fate for granted, but suddenly startled when he heard the worn phone hanging from the wall begin to ring. And it wasn’t until he did it incessantly he decides to respond, and immediately the voice on the other side tells him "don’t hang up."

Un arte cinematográfico del director Scott Derrickson, la película está basada en un cuento homónimo del autor Joe Hill, quien es hijo del legendario autor de terror y misterio Stephen King, aclaró que se había inspirado en las historias de los asesinos seriales infantiles, especialmente en John Wayne Gacy, que también es conocido como “Pogo”, el payaso asesino. Fue a mediados de los años 1972 y 1978 el responsable de al menos 33 homicidios entre hombres jóvenes y niños. El criminal nació el 17 de marzo de 1942 en Chicago Illinois y su ejecución fue el 10 de mayo de 1994 en Stateville Corretional Center.
A cinematographic art by director Scott Derrickson, the film is based on an eponymous tale by author Joe Hill, who is the son of legendary horror and mystery author Stephen King, clarified that he had been inspired by the stories of children’s serial killers, especially in John Wayne Gacy, who is also known as "Pogo", the killer clown. He was responsible for at least 33 murders between young men and boys in the mid-1970s and 1978. The criminal was born on March 17, 1942 in Chicago Illinois and was executed on May 10, 1994 at the Stateville Corretional Center.
Sin embargo ese no es el único componente real que nos trae la película. Aunque la mayoría de la adaptación cinematográfica de Derrickson se mantiene fiel al cuento de Joe, se necesitaba algo más para poder ampliar la historia y que encajara en un largometraje. Entonces fue cómo Derrickson decidió llevar su propia infancia al guión, y que así naciera la historia del maltrato y el acoso hacía Finney, quien vive con una hermana pequeña y un padre alcohólico.
Derrickson dijo que había crecido en el norte de Denver dónde eran bastante violentos, con mucha intimidación, peleas, y los niños sangraban todo el tiempo. Recordó muchos momento terribles de su infancia.
Los padres castigaban a los niños de manera mucho más agresiva, por lo que era un lugar muy violento y aterrador para crecer. Quise que ese ambiente se sintiera en la película.

However that is not the only real component that brings us the film. Although most of Derrickson’s film adaptation remains true to Joe’s story, something more was needed to expand the story and fit into a feature film. That’s when Derrickson decided to bring his own childhood into the script, and that’s how the story of the abuse and harassment of Finney, who lives with a little sister and an alcoholic father, was born.
Derrickson said he grew up in North Denver where they were pretty violent, with lots of bullying, fights, and the kids were bleeding all the time. He remembered many terrible moments of his childhood.
Parents punished children much more aggressively, so it was a very violent and scary place to grow up. I wanted that atmosphere to be felt in the film.

¿Qué me gustó de la película?
"El captor" un personaje original, saliendo de los clásicos asesinos disfrazados de payasos. Transformándolo a un mago de los años 30, fue el mismo Joe Hill quien dio la idea de inspirarse de cuando los magos de aquel entonces variaban sus vestuarios, primero el clásico de magos y después como demonios. El personaje entero de lo que es realmente "el captor" está bien hecho, sobre todo la actuación de Ethan Hawke que le da vida y personalidad al personaje. Algo de lo que más me gusta es como trasmite sus emociones, con la máscara de demonio al tan solo intercambiar algunas sus piezas. Las cuales pueden hacer transformar el modelo de la mascara a una sonriente, con el ceño fruncido o sin boca. Es una manera de darnos a entender que posiblemente "el captor" sufre de algún tipo de trastorno bipolar, desarrollándolo así en resto de la película.
¿Qué no me gustó de la película?
Yo particularmente sentía ansiedad en escenas especificas donde la música y los momentos de excesiva tensión e incertidumbre me consumían. Muchas veces en medio de la película que quería adelantarla al menos unos segundo, pero me arme de paciencia y me dije a mi misma, “espera puede ser importante” Claro que, al ser una historia de un descendiente de Stephen King es algo que se ve venir.
What did I like about the movie?
"The Grabber" an original character, coming out of the classic murderers disguised as clowns. Transforming him into a magician of the 1930s, it was Joe Hill himself who gave the idea of being inspired from when the magicians of that time varied their costumes, first the classic of magicians and then as demons. The whole character of what is really "the Grabber" is well done, especially the performance of Ethan Hawke that gives life and personality to the character. One of the things I like most is how he transmits his emotions, with the demon mask just by exchanging some of his pieces. Which can transform the model of the mask to a smiling, frowned or without mouth. It is a way of making us understand that possibly "the Grabber" suffers from some type of bipolar disorder, thus developing it in the rest of the film.
What didn’t I like about the movie?
I will also give a little credit when creating the atmosphere. Although I particularly felt anxiety in specific scenes where music and moments of excessive tension and uncertainty consumed me. Many times in the middle of the film I wanted to advance it at least a few seconds, but I was patient and I said, "wait can be important" Of course, being a story of a descendant of Stephen King is something to be seen coming.

El número uno es por supuesto que el “raptor” es uno de ellos, por todo lo explicado anteriormente. Aunque es el villano de la película, me atrapó ese personaje y la manera en la que en la que para mí fue fácil leerlo y entender cierta profundidad.
La segunda es Gwen Blake, una niña por mucho inteligente, bonita, y especial. Su personaje también me parece increíble, me gusta la relación que lleva con su hermano Finney, entre más cosas que trae consigo. Madeleine McGraw con tan solo 13 supo darle vida de una manera sorprendente a lo que fue su personaje, Gwen Blake.
My favorite characters.
Number one is of course the "raptor" is one of them, for all of the above. Although he is the villain of the film, I was caught up in that character and the way in which it was easy for me to read it and understand some depth.
The second is Gwen Blake, a girl by far intelligent, beautiful, and special. I also find his character incredible, I like the relationship he has with his brother Finney, among other things he brings with him. Madeleine McGraw with only 13 knew how to give life in a surprising way to what was his character, Gwen Blake.
Mi opinión general de la película.
La historia está tan bien complementada, su guión está perfectamente realizado acompañado de las increíbles actuaciones de los tres personajes principales, Finney, Gwen y The Grabber. Te muestran todo tan claro, todo va por una línea temporal recta, sin espacio y bien distribuida. Nos muestra una historia de terror con efectos de realidad, pues no es como la mayoría, no se trata de posesiones, ni demonios, solo hay fantasma pero son literalmente parte de los salvadores. No es como cualquier otra donde al terminar sanamos nuestro miedo con decirnos “esto no es real es solo ficción”. El bullyin que vive Finney, la violencia doméstica, la manera en la que nos presentan un padre alcohólico, que no es el enemigo. Es increíble la manera en la que la película, no necesita más que presentar frente a la cámara sucesos REALES que podemos vivir.
Entre las críticas logre leer que la película era mala porque era una pieza más para algo monótono. Sinceramente no opino lo mismo, empezando por el hecho de que al cambiar la idea de payaso a mago cambió el desarrollo de película bastante, además de que nos presentan un asesino con diferente comportamiento. En el resto de las películas nos dan más de lo mismo, un adulto sádico que secuestra, viola y asesina niños. The Grabber es por mucho diferente, pues sí como todo captor, te muestra una cara pasiva al comienzo, pero tiene una manera distinta y para nada radical de cambiarse de mascara, literalmente. Se trata de un hombre que tiene una forma no solo pasiva, sino también llega a ser cuidador, comportamiento que cambia únicamente si el niño se llega a portar mal.
Además si se analiza un poco tiene modus operandi, y tiene deslices que dan a entender que posiblemente él se vea reflejado en los niños, y no solo eso, sino que también vivió de esos mismo maltratos en su infancia, y el solamente los está replicando en medio de su trastorno. Eso hace una reflexión que señala directamente la manera primitiva de la crianza en aquellos tiempos, como maltaban hasta hacer sangrar a los niños por ser traviesos.
Una vez más ganó la realidad, sobre la ficción.
My overall opinion of the movie.
The story is so well completed, its script is perfectly executed accompanied by the incredible performances of the three main characters, Finney, Gwen and The Grabber. They show you everything so clear, everything goes along a straight timeline, without space and well distributed. It shows us a horror story with reality effects, because it is not like most, it is not about possessions, nor demons, there are only ghosts but they are literally part of the saviors. It is not like any other where we end up healing our fear by telling us "this is not real is just fiction". Finney’s bullying, domestic violence, the way we’re presented with an alcoholic father, who’s not the enemy. It’s amazing the way the movie, it just needs to present in front.
Among the critics I managed to read that the film was bad because it was one more piece for something monotonous. I honestly don’t feel the same way, starting with the fact that changing the idea from clown to magician changed the development of the film quite a lot, plus we are presented with a killer with different behavior. In the rest of the movies we get more of the same, a sadistic adult who kidnaps, rapes and murders children. The Grabber is by far different, because like every captor, it shows you a passive face at the beginning, but has a different and not radical way to change mask, literally. It is a man who has a form not only passive, but also becomes a caregiver, behavior that changes only if the child becomes misbehaving.
Also, if you look at it a little bit, it has a modus operandi, and it has slips that suggest that he may be reflected in children, and not only that, but he also lived from those same abuses in his childhood, and he’s only replicating them in the middle of his disorder. That makes a reflection that directly points to the primitive way of parenting in those times, as they battered to make children bleed for being naughty.
Once again, reality won over fiction.
¿Recomendaría está película?
Por supuesto, sobre todo aquellos quienes son amantes a ver cada pequeño detalle para sacar su propio análisis. Es una película llena de fragmentos “sueltos” que parecen dejados ahí de mera casualidad, pero realmente si los miras bien, son parte complementaria de la historia. A pesar de no me gustó tanto el suspenso y que los “sustos” los considero bastante innecesarios. Está muy buena. A mí me gusto bastante la película, me fue fácil interpretarla y hacerle su respectivo análisis.
Would you recommend this movie?
Of course, especially those who are lovers to see every little detail to get their own analysis. It is a film full of "loose" fragments that seem to be left there by mere chance, but really if you look at them well, they are a complementary part of the story. Despite not liking the suspense so much and that the "scares" I consider them quite unnecessary. It is very good. I quite liked the film, it was easy to interpret it and make its respective analysis.

Este film estuvo bastante bueno, yo le esperaba un horror algo más hardcore pero como una peli de suspenso funciona perfecto. Me gustó que lo paranormal fuese bueno en vez de malo y creo que eso hace que la historia de sienta muy fresca y original. Un film totalmente recomendable.
Si, confieso al comienzo pensaba que iba a ser una más de terror sobre natural. Y yo soy una persona muy temerosa para eso, pero cuando comencé a ver cada detalle la historia que tiene de trasfondo hizo que me sintiera tan atraída al punto de que tenía un cuaderno al lado para hacer anotaciones y hacer el post. Esta película se lleva todo el crédito, estuvo para mi, muy interesante

Extenso recorrido por esta obra de suspenso, nos adentras en los rincones oscuro de esta historia con tu rewiew.
Una película donde la primera impresión fue que sería más "Terror" sin embargo trabajaron muy bien el suspenso y que la verdad sentía el miedo, el encierro y el desespero de querer escapar, este tipo de temas se ven tanto en la realidad que creo quisieron demostrar que el terror no necesariamente es a lo que estamos acostumbrados ver en la pantalla, sino que el terror viene también de nuestra realidad cuyas personas que han pasado por esto vivieron una pesadilla.

Sin duda, el guión estuvo tan bien trabajado, e incluso cómo hicieron el uso de las cámaras. Manson Thames hizo también su personaje con su mirada decidida que nos trasportó a ese momento a su lado, desesperarnos también por querer salir.
Con un mensaje tan solido, tan claro. Y no solo eso, un mensaje que agarra desde que comienza y no lo suelta hasta que termina.

No fue una mala película. A mi me gustó, pero más que como película de "terror" como película para entender y ser conscientes de lo que llegan a sufrir algunos niños. Me gustó mucho como fue llevada la película como la ayuda de los otros niños desde "el más allá". También me pregunto si en la vida real el hermano del asesino era igual de "despistado". ¡Saludos!

Tengo que decir algo, la parte donde escribes sobre lo que no te gustó del film, creo que si te gustó porque cumple al crearte temor en donde quieres evitar ver, pero sabes que estas obligada a hacerlo; eso es en parte lo genial del film.
Mis personajes favoritos o en realidad la que considero una gran protagonista es Gwen quien espero sea protagonista de la posible secuela, tengo algunas teorías sobre el "poder" de los niños, de su madre y de "The Grabber". Lo otro que me gusto es que a pesar de ser una historia sobrenatural, tiene mucha realidad como la influencia del asesino serial John Wayne Gacy; recuerdo que ver el docuserie de netflix antes de ver The Black Phone, me hizo disfrutar mucho más de este film, lo otro es la influencia de IT lo cual era de esperar por quien es el creador original de esta historia.
Holaa! Bueno sí, cumplió con su cometido. Yo estaré en la línea de los más temerosos, y te puedo asegurar que fui totalmente incapaz de ver cuando Max baja al sótano, mi instinto me dijo que no terminaría bien y vaya que no. Menos mal me tape los ojos jaja.
Y si Gwen es sorprendente, me llegué a identificar con algunas partes de su desarrollo, sobre todo por lo intrépida y no tener miedo de defender a su hermano y aun cuando después queda en desventajas se quedó ahí en medio de su dolor, es una juvencita muy inteligente, especial, valiente, decidida... En fin, es increíble.
