HiveFest Day 5. The Fortress Klis and Rally Car

It’s only been two weeks, but it feels like it was in another lifetime.

What I really liked about this year's HiveFest was that it was stretched out over time, so the daily scheduler was not too intense to leave enough free time. And believe me, there were plenty of things to do.

Klis Fortress - The Keys to Split

It was the fifth day of the festival. My husband kept hinting that it would be a good idea to climb somewhere higher, and I pretended not to understand the hints. So when @livinguktaiwan suggested visiting the fortress located in the mountains, I immediately liked the idea.

Located in the mountain pass between Mosor and Kozjak mountains at 360m, Klis Fortress overlooks the city of Split and nearby islands.

Despite the official weather forecast of 16-18 degrees Celsius, the day was sunny and very warm. We set off in the morning, hoping to possibly catch the rally with a Hive-powered rally car that was scheduled for later that day.

This visit turned into a nice family adventure, I mean a little bit bigger Hive family.😊

The foundation of the Klis Fortress goes back to the Illyrians in the 2nd century BC. Back then, it was the key to Split thanks to its strategic vantage point over the surrounding landscape. Also, the only 3 preserved Ottoman mosques on the territory of Croatia are in the Klis fortress. You might recognize them in the pictures below.

But probably, you may know the Fortress Klis as the town of Meeren from the Games Of The Thrones Series. Although it is a bit outdated and memories are not so vivid. So I think that now its fans have decreased among the visitors.

But!

We were lucky enough to encounter a distant descendant of Daenerys Targaryen's dragons. 😀

I came across a lot of lizards like this in Ukraine but never saw such a color - a mixture of green and quite a bit of blue.

I've long noticed that the more I am thrilled about a place, the more photos I take. The following pictures were taken on my phone. They differ quite a bit in quality, which is obvious and perhaps not for the better, but I still want you to see them. This place is worth visiting!

In the first two photos, you see an ancient toilet. I assume one of them was used by high-ranking individuals, as there are archer windows on both sides of the "cabin." In the other, the residents did their business without such security.

Hive Rally Car

You could see this Ford Fiesta Rally3 at the parking slot at Riva on Thursday, conference Day 2.

After visiting the fortress, Mr Delishtreats gave us a ride to the Karting Arena Split. There were a lot of people eager to ride in that car. We were treated to a delicious pizza while waiting so no one was left hungry.

It was fascinating to watch @ssekulji improve with each lap even though the track was designed more for Formula-1 type vehicles (IMHO). He did a great job! I don't know how this guy didn't get sick after so many sharp turns and circles! It was awesome!

Of course, my boring photos (except the last one with a wide-smiling @lemony-cricket) can’t compare to those captured by @bil.prag which I highly recommend viewing. His shots truly capture the feeling of speed!

What gave me the exciting feeling of speed was the ride with @arcange on his motorbike! It's really not like when you drive in a car, when you feel the wind, the smell of the sea and pine trees. And the picture you see while riding a motorcycle is voluminous. It was cool!!!

Unfortunately, the only decent photo I have is this one with my husband's finger in it, so I'm hoping to see the video recorded with that super cool, ultra-modern @arcange's camera. 🙏😍

The fort is located on a high ground, it was built to protect from enemy attacks which was probably very effective. You have visited it, your experience must have been great

That fortress is really cool. You got some really great shots, especially the ones were you were framing the landscape. So fun that you all went together to the fortress.

The fortfess had many "embedded" frames and I couldn't resist. 😆

Thank you for checking it out!
