It is said and known that one is addressed the way one dresses. It's a very popular saying and a lot of people have come to this realisation to better dress the way they want to be approached and addressed although some still make the mistakes of not giving a dime about it.
A very disheartening thing happened today and to an extent we blame the victim because she didn't only miss an opportunity to be supervised by the Head of Department but also caused a problem for another person.
So the school system had made some rules against indecency in school as it was becoming alarming and a thing of worry. Although some students never took it seriously and some felt like nothing was going to be done about it, until when called upon or harassed in one way or the other. My department in particular doesn't condone indecency and to be able to meet some important and senior Professors in the department, one needs to be modest in dressing and display some level of good character too.

So having shared seminar and project supervisors to students, the students were expected to meet with their supervisors and start up something immediately as the semester is quite short and we can't afford wasting much time. Some students who were privileged to see their supervisors in school did meet with them and are already up and doing, while some are still waiting and praying to see theirs in school
Among these students, was a colleague whose seminar supervisor was the Head of the Department and knowing fully well the kind of person the man is, the girl still proved ignorant and went ahead to meet with her supervisor dressed indecently, little did she know what was gonna befall her as she ended up getting herself embarrassed and not just that, she also dragged others in her group to the mess because their supervisor, the head of the department vowed not to have anything to do with their group and refused to supervise them.
This wasn't intended or planned but because of one person's indecency, others fell victims too and this was really sad.

To this effect, they started blaming the girl and pointing fingers and some even went as far as abusing her for not being properly dressed.
True that the situation was a sad one and anyone could be angry about such bad luck but it all boils down to one being addressed just the way he or she is dressed.
The girl should have known better and dressed and appeared better for the occasion.
She knew she was going to meet with her supervisors today, so she should have made a little effort by dressing decently and what happened would have been avoided.
Now she didn't only place herself in a tight corner but also became an hurdle for others
From this, we can draw some valid lessons and learn not to become a stumbling block to others because of our actions or way of living.
