#BeerSaturday 343 - New Year's Gift Packs!
343 weeks straight celebrating #beer on the #blockchain makes me think we are contributing to it being the worlds most popular beverage!
Being The Blockchain Beerologist definitely has its perks, including but not limited to getting paid to tour breweries and sample new beers! When I am not globetrotting and chugging pints, my fridge looks like a colorful mosaic of regional craft beer I enjoy sharing with the #beersaturday alliance of #beer bloggers on #hive.
This week, I am cleaning up all the Mix Packs left over from Christmas season!
Shorty of the Week
I like to keep a few short cans in the fridge in case a pint is too much or there is an interesting beer that is only sold in a 355ml can. This is one of the latter because a double IPA is pretty much a pint worth of beer. I love me some Anderson Craft Ales and was jazzed to discover this DIPA when all I have ever enjoyed was the normal IPA.
This was actually part of a fantastic IPA Mixed Six that boasted 6 different IPAs! I saved the DIPA for last so that I could celebrate it like fine champagne.
Winter Mix Pack
While I regularly have Nickelbrook Brewing Co. beer in my fridge and have credited their beer for my slide into IPA obsession, I don't feature them too much. How many times can you post about Headstock as one of the best west coast IPAs of all time? Wicked Awesome IPA is also solid and available year round so they are fantastic but I need to feature new beers for #beersaturday.
The good news is both of those beers are in the Winter Mix Pack, along with a couple other very compelling new ones! Not only that, there was a surprise inside!
Frosty Palms!
I am a sucker for a Tropical IPA and didn't realize Frosty Palms was even an IPA til I poured it out to sample it. I figured it would be a session IPA of some sour as this wasn't labelled as an IPA mix pack. Pleasant surprise!
This fruity tropical treat weighs in at a respectable 5.9% ABV and is labelled as a mimosa coloured pour. Perhaps a little darker than orange juice but definitely sweet and delicious...and tropical!
5-pack!?
I opened the damn box only to find 5 beers! Did I ask for a 6-pack? Well I guess not. Are there 5 good beers in here? Most likely as Nickebrook has game. What was this in the place of the 6th beer? Not the beer I expected!
I have a couple nice hats as it is and another to spare so I was not in the market for another. Serves me right as it says clearly on the box that this is the case, and is in the case as it were.
Here is to enjoying Nickelbrook for 10 years and finally stumbling upon a nice winter hat rocking the brand of my favourite West Coast IPA for so long!

That's the first time I see an IPA brewed with oats. I sort of have this grain linked to stouts or some old-fashnioned European beers.
I have seen it in so many of my favourite ipas in the region. They use it in combination with wheat for a smoother texture and mouthfeel to balance out strong and hoppy beer. I just love it.
Great lakes brewing is probably my favourite of them all but acrolling up a week, here is another that has oats from Amsterdam brewing in Toronto.
Pretty common and i find so many of the ones i like have oats these days. Not much for the german purity law.
Well, I keep learning :))
Frosty palms looks like they tasted better for me as it looks like our softdrinks here called royal 😁
They really are pouring on the decoration and the tropical fruity citrusy branding. Makes sense when they have to differentiate it even from their other ipas.
Definitely a good beer and I would buy this again if it was on its own on the shelf.
Seeing IPA brewed in oats is really amazing
This is my first time seeing such
Anyway, they are nice though
Have a good day
Happy Beerdays my friend
Cheers to the !BEER
