SpendHBD: A New Era of Shopping and Payments in Aba

This past few months have truly been exciting for many people in Aba and beyond. Some months ago, our able mentor @fokusnow introduced us to SpendHBD, and though it sounded so good that we immediately loved the idea, we didn’t fully understand its value and importance right away. But today, as I write this post, it’s clear that something remarkable has changed.

A few days after the community and its goals were revealed to us in our group, Mr. Charles took it upon himself to ensure that SpendHBD in Aba became a success. He immediately sprang into action, going out of his way to brand shirts and face caps with SpendHBD designs. He even designed a beautiful banner to promote the initiative. Not stopping there, he organized and held a conference in his office compartment. On that day, not less than twenty-five people gathered to learn about SpendHBD, and many new participants were onboarded into the community.

Prior to the conference, Mr. Charles had already enlisted a few shops in the area and prepared them for our arrival. After a quick introduction about Hive, SpendHBD, and how it works, we all went out, along with the new members, to the pre-enlisted shops to shop. Though it took some time to settle into the new system, we were all able to trade using HBD. It was a truly fun and eye-opening day. For me, that day was when I fully realized the immense value of SpendHBD and its potential to transform the lives of the people in Aba.

But our journey didn’t stop there. Our dedicated mentor, @fokusnow, continued to innovate and expand the vision. After the first session at Mr. Charles’ office, he founded a new group branded SHOKIN, which translates to Shoppers Konnect Nigeria. This group aims to introduce and expand the technology of paying with SpendHBD to a wider range of shop outlets and customers. SHOKIN has been running for Nine weeks now, as of the time of this writing, and each week has been better than the last. The group engages in a weekly routine of shopping using HBD, creating a steady ripple of excitement and transformation in the community.

Today, I joined Them, and we all headed to a popular fast-food spot in our area—Chicken Republic. The place had such a welcoming vibe, and the dishes? Absolutely delicious! As the name suggests, most of their meals are chicken-based, and they didn’t disappoint. Here are some pictures we took while we were there.

Just when we thought the initiative couldn’t get any better, @fokusnow introduced yet another groundbreaking concept. This time, the focus shifted to directly reaching customers and highlighting how beneficial SpendHBD has been to them. This innovative approach is set to amplify the impact of SpendHBD in Aba and beyond.

What makes this journey truly special is the dedication and passion of everyone involved. From the creative branding to the community engagement, and from the weekly SHOKIN shopping routines to the efforts to onboard new participants, SpendHBD has become more than just an idea—it’s a movement. This movement is reshaping how we think about shopping and payments, providing a glimpse into a future where innovative solutions make life better for everyone.

As I reflect on this incredible journey, I can’t help but feel grateful to be part of such a transformative initiative. SpendHBD is not just changing how we shop; it’s bringing people together, and unlocking new opportunities. The impact has been nothing short of amazing, and we are just getting started. Here’s to even more milestones ahead as we continue to grow and make a difference in our community.
