Are we growing, stagnant or going backwards?
There is this thing that adults used to say to us, they will boldly and proudly say “THOSE DAYS" now, this word sometimes makes ms feel like “whats so special in that their days, why are they always saying that annoying words?" But now I have come to the realization that there are so many things of those days that only those of “those days" can relate to, or things that people of “those days" enjoyed that we of these days can't or don't enjoy.
I'd try to explain further as we move on...
Now I am not that old at all, in fact, I am even very young, I'm part of these generation, but I can proudly say that “those days" to people who are less my age, you know why? Cause when I was much younger, there were so many things we could get with a very minimal and affordable price, most especially Nigerian desert.
At least in my younger days, there was still a currency named 5 naira, but now, this generation don't know the meaning of 5 naira, cause there is barely nothing you can get with that amount of money, even the so called 10 naira currency is almost fading away, there is almost nothing that you can proudly get with a 10 naira note currency, probably except from season cubes, and few candy, even that candy is not more for 10 naira, it's either it's been broke into 3 for 50 naira, and one for 10 naira currency, can you imagine, and as of then, “those days" when I was in primary school, in our way to school or majorly when we are on our way back from school, there is one Nigerian candy that we used to buy, it was called “BABA DUDU" there was also what we used to call SÍBÌ JE" (both were named after the Yoruba tribe) if you can relate, please let me here you make some noise!! 😅
And now things has gone so bad that everything that is worth buying or even renting has increased in price, my question is why? Before we used to buy fish in a cheaper rate, and now it's higher, how? Are the fishes not more from the seas? Are they now going to the universities?
Before we used to buy meat a lot, but now, it has be minimised, why? Are the cows now eating Humans? Is there no more grasses to feed them?
There was a time we wanted to rent a ladder to do something, and then the guy charged higher than he used to, and my question was, how? Was it not this same ladder that we rented the last time? Is the ladder complaining that it needs money now?
Common sachet of water that should be the cheapest thing, is now expensive, a bag us now entering 200 Naira, why?
Why is everything getting cost? Food stuffs that we are growing in our lands are getting cost, the land is already requested for its own share of money right?
What is going on?
This situation is not suitable for anyone, the rich are crying, who are now the poor not to weep, cry, shed tears, and groan in pain?
Education is very awesome, but at this stage and time of life,we can't just bank our future only on education, cause there is a very high tendency of it failing you such will bring disappointment, and can cause other sensitive reactions...
To conclude this note, The only thing I can say is that no one is willing to help another if that another is not putting effort to helped. So let's give our time to learn somethings, some hand works, the one we know we enjoy, that can help us tomorrow is no one is there for us. Also let us save, let's not eat with our whole 10 fingers, make we chop remain for tomorrow, and lastly, let's make efforts to grow, we don't know who is watching, let's not just make efforts, let's also grow so we can show ourselves approved.
PS: this post is dedicated to the Hivelearners Weekly Featured contest Week 61 edition 02
