Warhammer 40k - What the new 10th Ed Points index does to my Grand Imperial Army
Hello Hive friends! This is Zak from Cape Town, South Africa and this is Warhammer 40,000 the tabletop boardgame.
The whole game has been revised as the 10th edition of the rules have been released. All the armies got new datasheets, which includes stats and rules and finally, on the 16th of June, we got the first points Index.
This means that I can rebuild my Grand Imperial Army, last updated in this post, where I added Brother Sven, the Redemptor Dreadnought.
Some points have gone up and some points have gone down. I have to track and trace what happened to what. In some cases, some of the units I was planning on adding to the list (I had them built and Battle ready for tournaments but not completely painted the way I wanted) have been removed from the game... for now.
There is also another instance where the points index is screwing with my collection:
Sometimes there are units that can be fielded only in a unit of 5 models or a unit of 10 models. There are only points listed for either 5 or 10 models. However, these guys are in a transport that allows 6 models to be transported. I had costed these models at points per model.
In the way the rules work that have just gone out, if I have more than 5 models in the unit, I pay for 10 and take away the units that I cannot field.
So... I cannot really reconcile that. Not for tournament play and not for Eternal Carnage games either!
The other thing that has changed is that there are no more Troops, Elites, Heavy Support, etc unit slots. There are Characters, Epic Heroes and Datacards. You may only have One of each Epic Hero. You may have up to three of any datacard in your army and you may have up to 6 selections of a datasheet that has the Battleline or Dedicated Transport keyword. This would usually have been the Troops of the enemy army.
With my Eternal Carnage army, I shall keep to 1 Epic Hero of each kind and I will, per Army, do my utmost to maintain the limits of current force limitations. However, should the lore break this rule, I will try count it as two armies in Eternal Carnage games.
So, with all that said and done, let's get into the list. We will begin with the total list from before:
