Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 107 - T'au Empire, Piranhas
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
418 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #107, I am 311 reviews behind!
Picking them randomly, let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
T'au Empire, Piranhas
10th Edition Codex
The TX4 Piranha is a fast scouting vehicle of the T'au Empire similar to Space Marine Land Speeders.
They have the ability to take control sections of the board for a short while as needed or complete objectives where speed is of the essence!
They can be fielded in units of up to three and cost 55pts each. They are $42 each to buy.
This little monster is 55pts to field in a battle, the model costs $52 to buy!
Let's look at those stats!

The Piranha can either have a Piranha burst cannon or a Fusion Blaster, then it comes standard with 2x twin pulse carbines and up to 2x seeker missiles.
Piranha burst cannon
Range 18", 4 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S6 Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Piranha Fusion Blaster
Range 12", 1 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S9 Ap -4, D6 Damage each
Melta 4 (When shooting at a target at half range - 6" then add 4 to the Damage)
Twin pulse carbine - x2
Range 20", 2 Attack Hitting on 4+, S5 Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Assault (This model can shoot after it Advanced with this model.)
Twin-Linked (This model can re-roll to Wound rolls.)
Seeker missile
Range 48", 1 Attack, Hitting on 4+, S14 Ap -3, D6+1 Damage each
One Shot (One shot per battle)
Melee:
Armoured hull
2 Attacks, Hitting on 5+, S4 Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Abilities
Deadly Demise 1 (When one of the models in this unit is destroyed, roll a dice, on a 6 the unit blows up and deals 1 Mortal Wound to each unit within 6" of this model.)
Scouts 9" (Free 9" move before turn 1, but this unit must stay more than 9" away from enemy units.
Drone Harassment Tactics
At the end of the Movement phase, select 1 unit within 12" of this unit to take a Battle Shock Test.
Thoughts
It is a fast vehicle, it has OK guns but the main ability of this Piranha is that ability to force a Battle Shock Test. This is potentially used to make an enemy unit lose control of the objective they are holding because if they fail the Battle Shock test then they become Objective Control 0 and cannot use Stratagems!
That makes 7 T'au Empire Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 16.66% Completed! The total Completed is 11.01% Complete! Can I review them all?!

Fun fact: every vehicle is technically an Ork vehicle that just hasn't been looted yet. How does that affect your faction completion info?

The fun doesn't stop there, as this seems to be a recurring theme with multiple online personas. The real question is, do we want to trust these drama-magnets with our hard-earned funds or any significant influence on Hive?

These can be absolute gits ! Memorable tournament battle I saw one time, the Tau player had a couple of defensive infantry units hiding in the scenery and about ten Piranhas. With some twist in the rules he used Deep Strike to put them on the table, dump off two drones each and then go back into reserve so they couldn't get shot up. Rinse and repeat every turn, 20 weapons drones arriving each turn, faster than his opponent could take them out.
It worked very well, but the other guy didn't appreciate it !
