Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!

Now known as the Unit Review Library!

What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!

Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.

I should have started when 10th edition launched!
409 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #96, I am 313 reviews behind!

Picking them randomly, let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:

Tyranids, Raveners

10th Edition Codex

Ravaners are fast slithering assault creatures. They count as Infantry as far as movement classification. They have a large number of attacks and can hold objectives.

They are 75pts for a unit of 3 or 150pts for a unit of 6.

The kit is $54 to purchase for 3 of them.

Let's see their stats!

Stats

Movement 10"
Toughness 5
Save 5+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 3
Ld 8+
OC 1

Weapons

Weapon Option: The Raveners either have a ranged weapon or they can choose instead to take an Armoured Thorax to gain a 4+ Save.

Ranged:

Thoracic bio-weapon
13" Range, 3 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Assault

Melee:

Ravener claws and talons
7 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Twin-Linked (Re-roll to wound)

To put that into perspective, that is 21 attacks from just 3 of them, Hitting on 3's should mean around 14 Hits. Its a 3+ to Wound a Space Marine, with Twin Linked, resulting in around 11-12 Wounds and the Space Marines save is reduced to 4+.

Without the Space Marines responding with their own tactics and abilities and just choosing to roll normal saves, this is 2-3 dead Space Marines. This could mean serious problems for Space Marine players who favour 5 man or even 3 man units of Space Marines!

Abilities

Deepstrike

Death From Below

At the end of the opponent's turn, if the Ravaners are not engages in Melee, you can remove them from the board and put them into reserves.

This means they can come in off one of the sides but they have Deep Strike so they can burrow out of the ground wherever you want them!

Thoughts

Ravagers are amazing at popping up where you don't want them. Overextend your battleline and forget about an objective, and the Ravagers will disappear off the board and appear where you did not want them to be.

A 3 man Ravager unit should be kept on the board behind a ruin and make them jump out where they are needed!

So I would pay close attention to my opponent if handles the Ravagers and if he/she understands how to use them properly.

That makes 3 Tyranid Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 5.88% Completed! The total Completed on 9.88% Complete! Can I review them all?!

Thank you for reading!

They aren't too difficult to deal with if you get the chance to hit them. If you get a chance, then kill them!

Raveners looks pretty versatile and deadly. Their mobility can be a game-changer in any battle

Yeah, they are good at popping up all over the place.
