Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 95 - T'au Empire, Razorshark Strike Fighter
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
408 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #95, I am 313 reviews behind!
Picking them randomly, let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
T'au Empire, Razorshark Strike Fighter
10th Edition Codex
The AX3 Razorshark Strike Fighter is an anti-ground harassment gunship. Aircraft rules for Warhammer 40k make all Aircraft unfavorable in 10th Edition at the moment. But I believe that they would be far more important on a large battlefield.
Aircraft used to be difficult to shoot at, but no longer. They cannot be engaged in Melee unless you have the Fly keyword and you can't make them stand still with combat. Neither can the owner of the Razorshark, it has to fly a minimum of 20" and can turn a maximum of 90 degrees. If it flies off the board, it goes into Reserves.
It costs 170pts to field which I think T'au players look at Battlesuits to do more damage with and have the ability to hold objectives.
Thus, outside of a different scale of the game, you will not see one of these in a tournament!
The kit is $84 to purchase!
Let's see its stats!
Stats
Movement 20"+
Toughness 10
Save 3+(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 12
Ld 7+
OC 0
Weapons
Ranged:
Weapon Option: Accelerator burst cannon OR Missile pod
Accelerator burst cannon
18" Range, 4 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S6, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Missile pod
30" Range, 2 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S7, Ap -1, 2 Damage each
The Missile Pod looks far more favourable due to the range.
It has 2x Seeker Missiles which are 1-shot Weapons, better fire them the turn it arrives so it doesn't get blown up and never gets to use them!
Seeker Missiles
48" Range, 1 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S14, Ap -3, D6+1 Damage each
One Shot
Now for the main turret gun at the bottom, this has 2 firing options:
Quad ion turret — standard
30" Range, 8 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S7, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Twin-Linked (re-roll to Wound)
Quad ion turret — overcharge
30" Range, 8 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S8, Ap -2, 2 Damage each
Twin-Linked (re-roll to Wound), Hazardous
Unless shooting at Guardsman, I would fire its overcharge version of the gun all the time! (At ground targets! See below)
Melee:
Armoured hull
3 Attacks, Hitting on 5+, S6, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Abilities
Ground Strike Fighter
When shooting at an enemy unit without the Fly keyword, the Razordshark adds 1 to the to Hit Roll.
Thoughts
With Ground Strike Fighter it means those Seeker Missiles go into a tank and the Quad ion turret can throw out a torrent of shots at a grounded target. The rest of the T'au army have enough Anti-Fly I am sure!
That makes 6 T'au Empire Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 14.28% Completed! The total Completed on 9.78% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!

The Razorshark is definitely a unique unit with its own niche in the game. Would be nice to use it in battle man
