Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 94 - Chaos Knights, Knight Abominant
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched! 10th Edition came out officially on the 1st of June 2023... it has been 408 days since then... so I would have been 42% done with the total already! So I have my work cut out for me!
Picking them randomly, let me spin the wheel again and see what I get:
Chaos Knights, Knight Abominant
10th Edition Index
The Knight Abominant is one of the big Chaos Knights, this one being the Psyker variant. I am not sure if it is more or less damaging than the others... but what I can say from reading this Datasheet is that it is dangerous.
This one is going to be aggressive. It is coming to your side of the board and it brings with it a warp storm that will hurt anything that is near it.
More than that, its guns are short-ranged for a Titanic Walker, so it will need to come in close. It also has a mass of close combat attacks so it is not afraid to get stuck in to the enemy.
385pts makes it expensive but what you get for it... I think its a fair price.
The box costs $194 to build the big Chaos Knights.
Let's see its stats!
Stats
Movement 10"
Toughness 12
Save 2+/5++*(armor/invul/Feel No Pain) * The 5++ Invul is only vs Shooting Attacks
Wounds 22
Ld 6+
OC 10
Weapons
Ranged:
Volkite combustor
30" Range, 9 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S12, Ap 0, 3 Damage each
Devastating Wounds
Plenty Shots, 30" is close range for a Knight. No AP but a Lascannon's strength... However, Devastating Wounds will cut right through Armour!
Diabolus heavy stubber
36" Range, 3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S5, Ap 0, 1 Damage each
Rapid Fire 3 (Means 6 Shots at 18" Range)
Its little support gun.
Melee:
Electroscourge
9 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S10, Ap -2, 3 Damage each
Sustained Hits 1
This means that this knight would usually hit around 7-8 times with that strike...
These are Space Marine/Terminator killers. And can rip apart most medium tanks easily. It will struggle to wound tougher vehicles/monsters/knights.
Balemace
3 Attacks, Hitting on 3+, S8, Ap -1, 2 Damage each
Extra attacks - can hit with these attacks as well as Electrosurge
Also Space Marine killing strikes.
Abilities
Warp Storms
At the end of your movement phase roll a D6 for every enemy unit within 9" This means you can control where this ability takes place, since you move and then activate it!
On a roll of 3+, the unit takes D3 Mortal Wounds. 9" is fairly large if you go right around the base of this model!
Vortex Terrors
At the start of the Shooting Phase, select one enemy within 12" of this model to take a Battle-Shock test.
Thoughts
Right, quite a few combos here. This Knight moves, then does Warp Storm damage to units at the end of his movement phase. Then before he shoots, he selects one unit to try Battle Shock it.
Then it shoots and charges into combat.
Looks really devastating to me on paper. I would guess that this Knight will be deployed in the centre of the board or across from the rights quantity of enemy units.
It will come in close and serve as an amazing distraction against the enemy shooting attacks while other units in the Chaos Knights army takes advantage of that.
Something to look out for!
That makes 4 Chaos Knights Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 21.05% Completed! The total Completed on 9.68% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
