Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library 129 - Agents of the Imperium, Vindicare Assassin
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
443 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #128, I am 315 reviews behind! (losing ground here)
Not picking randomly at the moment, need to finish Imperial Agents and Deathwatch before they change as explained Here
Agents of the Imperium, Vindicare Assassin
10th Edition Index
The Vindicare Assassin is the fourth and final Temple Assassin in the Agents of the Imperium Datasheets.
He is the the Super-Sniper. Where the Callidus Assassin uses chameleonic camouflage to pop out at the enemy to cut them down, he stays far away.
Instead of the mad murder and wholesale slaughter of the Eversor Assassin, he focusses on a single target.
Instead of being anti-Psyker like the Culexus Assassin, he is anti-Character, without the Anti-Character ability... you'll see...
80pts... cheap... I sort of expect this to go up in the new Codex. $40 at Warhammer.com! Also a pretty cool just to collect this model.
Let's check his stats!
Stats
Movement 7"
Toughness 4
Save 6+/4++(armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 4
Ld 6+
OC 1
Weapons
Ranged:
Exitus rifle
Range 48", 1 Attack, Hits on a 2+, S7, Ap -3, D3+3 Damage each
Heavy (This unit gets +1 to Hit rolls if it remains stationary), he already hits on a 2+, this is to counter-act a de-buff like Stealth. Which he will hit on a 2+ if he stands still!
Ignores Cover (The target does not get any benefit for hiding in cover, you cannot hide from his precision!)
Precision (He can pick who takes the shot of course, sniping out a Leader out of the unit. He could also kill a special weapon out of a squad)
Devastating Wounds (Critical Wound rolls of a 6 cannot be saved with Armor or Invul Saves)
Exitus pistol
Range 12", 3 Attacks, Hits on a 2+, S5, Ap -2, 3 Damage each
Pistol (This unit can shoot this weapon even if they are in engagement with an enemy unit.)
Melee:
Vindicare combat knife
4 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S4, Ap -1, 1 Damage each
Not a massive threat with the knife... but the pistol...
Abilities
Lone Operative (Can't be targeted unless he is within 12" of the shooter)
Stealth (Ranged attacks shooting him are done at -1 to Hit)
Infiltration (He can be set up in No-Man's Land) (But why would he?!)
Shieldbreaker
Once per Battle, he can use the Shieldbreaker round, when he does, it ignores all saves that can be made against the shot. This is then like an auto-Devastating Wounds... as long as he wounds with his S7 shot, which is a 3+ against a Marine Character usually, even one wearing Terminator Armor.... even a Custodian.
Deadshot
When making a ranged attack, when rolling a Critical HIT, add 3 Damage to the shot.
This makes the Rifle D3+6 Damage!
And it makes the Pistol a 6 Damage pistol!
Also, when this critical happens then the squad hit this way needs to make a Battle-Shock Test!
Thoughts
This is an amazing unit. I like him... I have 2 of them... and apparently he will get even better in the new Codex.
In the normal 2000pts game which is a 60"x44" board, I would stick him in centre-back in cover as high as possible. Most of the time he won't be shot at... but that Pistol is great at taking out Terminators... so I am pretty optimistic about him.
Now just 1 more Imperial Agents to do!
That makes 16 Imperial Agents Reviewed putting them on 94% Completed! The total Completed is 13.28% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!

Of all the agents... this is the only one I ever played against... and he was pretty much impossible to get to.
Haha, indeed! In the 9th ed rules he used to have 3 different "Once per Battle" special shots. I used the Turbo-Penetrator to one-shot a Space Marine Drop Pod.... with a sniper rifle... I needed to get rid of it because it was in the way of my other units. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣
Wait.... just the drop pod or the drop pod plus all the Space Marines inside it? Because the ROI on that shot could be massive!
Haha no, the squad has to immediately disembark when it comes down... However, they were hiding behind the Drop Pod... so I blew it up!
That is awesome!!
