Warhammer 40k - Planning day
Today I needed to get some perspective of two things: One - How does my painted Imperial army look, the Imperial army that I am not going to re-paint.
Sure there will be plenty touch ups that I want to do on these models, but nothing here will be getting a re-paint.
And two, what sort of content is there to blog about.
I realized that none of the units on this board are ones that I have covered in the Warhammer 40k - Unit Review Library after 65 entries!
Because there are just THAT many units in the game!
I should probably wait until the next points update before starting a new blog series about the collection as a whole in points and completion as a Space Wolf Great Company and the greater Imperial Army that is coming with it.
This is more or less what my total collection looks like assembled on a table. This is around 4000+ points of Space Wolves plus a couple hundred points of other forces.
Let's have a quick overview of them...
Thunderwolves. There is a Wold Lord on Thunderwolf on the left in front, then the Wolf Guard Battle Leader on Thunderwolf. On the right is an Iron Priest on Thunderwolf.
At the back are 3x Thunderwolf Cavalry models.
The Iron Priest on Thunderwolf is not something that you may run in most competitive Tournaments, but there is a datasheet for him in 10th Edition in the Legends section.
For my Mechanized part of the Great Company, it makes sense to have a Techmarine that can keep up with the vehicles!
Sorry for the blur. Here is Logan Grimnar, the Great Wolf of the Space Wolves leading a unit of Wolf Guard Terminators. Logan would be a "guest" commander in the Great Company under Bjorn Stormwolf.
Masses of Armor! Razorbacks, Vindicators, Predator Destructors and a Land Raider!
The Sky Wolves - A Stormrave, Stormhawk and Stormtalon.
My Ancients! Bjorn the Fell handed, Mortis Dreadnought, Wulfen Dreadnought in front. Redemptor and Ballistus Dreadnoughts at the back and a Drop Pod.
Some Fenrisian Wolves. I will have to re-base the rectangle ones at some point.
On the left is a Wulfen. Then a Techmarine, Iron Priest and a unit of 5 Grey Hunters.
Vanguard Veterans (Wolf Guard with Jump Packs) led by a Chaplain (Wolf Priest).
And a squad of Long Fangs with Grav Cannons
And another Squad of Long Fangs, this one with Missile Launchers. Led by a Librarian (Rune Priest)
Another squad of 5 Grey Hunters.
From left to right - Culexus Assassin (I have a painted Vindicare and Callidus as well... probably in the garage). Then two Inquisitors and a Henchman on the right.
Here we have some other Imperial Forces... A Techmarine of the Dark Angels. A Grey Knight, this one likely meant to be a Brother Captain. At the back is Commander Dante of the Blood Angels (Not painted by me and I am certainly not going to repaint it!) A Chaplain on bike and Cato Sicarius of the Ultramarines.
A Corvus Blackstar of the Deathwatch. This one I painted. More details to follow. It has a lot of details I still want to do, but it is battle ready.
So I put the infantry into a case and most of the armor into this box. I will need to make more of these boxes so I have a storage space for all my models!
And then comes the massive infantry army added to the Great Company to swell its members. I am still busy reading the newest lore to try determine exactly how big a Great Company is in the Post-Indomitus era. I will find out soon!
Once this army for the Slow Grow is added, I shall have over 6000pts of Space Wolves!
I have several Dreadnoughts and some Primaris units planned for the Great Company. This will likely take the total points for the Space Wolves to around 10,000pts!
Once I get to 10,000pts, I want to create something special as a centre-piece for my army... We shall see!
Let me work on those Blood Claws!
Cheers!
@zakludick
Damn bro your army looks mad impressive. The variety of units and attention to detail is remarkable. It must be exciting planning the expansion, especially aiming for that 10,000-point milestone. Best of luck with the Blood Claws bro and also hope you've had a good rest
Cheers man!
Yeah the Slow Grow army is 100% infantry... 90 Blood Claws plus heroes and two squads of Long Fangs.
Epic army set.. I noticed you sent me 200 Ecency Points big bro... Wow I'm supper super grateful my man... You've made my day brother. Thanks so much ❤️❤️
Dude! These look fantastic. You should be really proud of this force!
Thank you very much!
It is been years in the making... but this is not my final form... the pile of shame is in the garage... lol
Really nice. Love your collection! I don’t know much about it, but I read once that Warhammer 40,000 has the best fictional world in role playing games, and by looking at this pictures I think it’s true.
It has an absolute powerhouse of lore. There is so much of it that I could talk and blog about it for days... and then there is still enough content that I have not read yet that this too will take me months to get through even if I had to do it full-time.
