Warhammer 40k - Battle Report 29 - 750pts Space Wolves vs Adeptus Mechanicus

Hello everyone and welcome to another Warhammer 40,000 Battle Report. I am quite thoroughly behind on these, but since I will not be able to play any games in the next while, I should be able to catch up with them!

This game was between myself and Brendon with his Adeptus Mechanicus at 750pts each side.

My Army seen here is a Space Wolves army running the Vanguard Strike Force.

Characters:
Wolf Guard Battle Leader (Lieutenant)
Rune Priest (Librarian)
Wolf Priest (Apothecary)
3x 10 man Blood Claw Packs. Powerfist, Flamer and Meltagun in each.
5x Long Fangs. 4 Lascannons and Plasmagun.

I deployed one unit on the right flank in terrain, another behind some woods in the centre, the final Blood Claw pack went downstairs in the ruin while the Long Fangs took the upper levels.

On one flank the Mechanicus have Pteraxi, Kataphron Breachers with a Magos Dominus.

Sometimes windows help with the Line of sight because a part of my model has to trace a line to the enemy!

On the other flank the Mechanius have a transport with a unit of Rangers inside.

In the centre is another squad of Rangers, led by a Skitarii Marshall. There is an Enginseer and an Onager Dunecrawler!

We are playing the Sites of Power Primary which means we get more points for Characters holding objectives.

There is also Delayed Reserves in Effect but we both put everything on the battlefield!

And here we can see the whole battlefield at the start of the battle. This was a while ago so forgive me if I am fuzzy on exact details.

Brendon looks like he got first turn and he takes to the field, moving forward.

A squad of Skitarii Rangers deployed.

Some shooting happened, but it does not look like he wiped anything out. The Space Wolves surges forward!

Multiple charge actions happen. The Pteraxii block the Blood Claws from charging the Kataphrons, and Overwatch with their flamers into the Blood Claws.

In the centre the Rune Priest leads a charge into the Rangers.

The Blood Claws weather the flames and charge the Pteraxii.

Meanwhile on the other flank the Blood Claws destroyed the Rangers and make contact with the Transport while in the centre the Rune Priest makes contact with the Onager Dunecrawler.

This unit is led by a Wolf Guard Battle Leader and with his Tactical Precision, he gives them Lethal Hits, thus on a 6 to Hit, they automatically wound and causing enough wounds with a -1AP from Astartes Chainswords, this will mow it down eventually!

In the centre the Rune Priest does not give that buff, but they will hold the Onager and stop it from firing with full effectiveness.

The entire battlefield rings with close combat battle! This is where the Space Wolves want to be!

The transport down, the Battle Leader takes the Blood Claws to the Onager!

Meanwhile the Pteraxii perish which the Kataphrons are now in combat with the Blood Claws. I think these Breachers had Arc-Claws which is fair bit of S5 Ap-1 attacks.

Meanwhile the Long Fangs are sitting pretty, taking potshots at the Onager with a reduction to their Ballistic Skill due to it being in combat.

Some furious rolling from Brendon.

But overall the battle was done. The Space Wolves destroyed most of the enemy army and took over the objective points along the way.

The Onager finally succumbed to the Blood Claws. Not much left of the one unit.

And there we go!

Battle 29 done!
