Titan Quest: Tale of the Wu Part 6
Good day fellow Hivers and fellow gamers! This is my account and playthrough of Titan Quest with all the expansions, including the newest Eternal Embers which I had not played before.
This playthrough follows Yu, the Wu - a combination of the brand new Nedian Mastery and the Earth Mastery. Forming together (At least the way that I am playing it), a character class that is a ranged mage with summons - The Terracotta General and the Core Dweller.
But now at Level 28-29 in this Part, the Wu's strength lies in being able to avoid damage, heal up faster than most and then throw out fire, burning and poison.
In fact, he deals fire, burn and poison with his attacks, deals fire damage when enemies stand near him, and deals more fire damage when enemies land a hit on him (Fire retaliation), who knew it but both the Terracotta General and the Core Dweller also put out auras that burn your enemies and deal Fire retaliation and on top of this, the Terracotta General explodes when defeated!
To deal with a Wu is to burn!
Let's get into the walk-through!
After speaking to the Yellow Emperor in the last part (Part 5), you learn that the real threat of the Sickle-bearing Telkine is not the destruction of China and the world at large, but that the Titan Typhus is imprisoned underneath the Wusao Mountains and that you need to stop the Telkine from freeing his master!
You come to this gate that you passed earlier in your travels locked by a quest. Now, you may unlock it!
HOWEVER. They locked this gate because there is a who squad of Panther Champions on the other side of the gate and they are actually always a pain to deal with and generally give first time players a quick death or two.
If you play a tanky Close Combat specialist then your best bet is to kite them a bit.
If you have ranged abilities, you might have something you can cast over walls. The Wu has Shen Pao, a potion bomb he can lob in an arc, so I below most of them up before I opened the gate. Some of them would rush for the gate, but they are unable to open it from their side.
The Terracotta General also unable to open doors rushes to meet them and then stand trading blows with the door, dealing no damage. However, his aura of fire does reach through the door and slowly damages any enemies that stand too close.
Sneaky!
Onwards to the Wusao Caverns an area that is generally a pain for a mage character and so I did not take any screenshots of the area just after this. There are a lot of elite Dragonite enemies and they are FAST. In between you encounter some undead and those are your easy bits. There is also another kind of dragon that is tough and deals fire damage as well.
You travel down some pitch black caverns deep into the earth. Quite foreboding.
I managed to find myself the Vest of the Wandering Goat! This is a chest armor that is generally good for archers and mages. It does give +1 to all skills though!
A note about my character build at this stage:
You get 3 skill points per level up and a few more from your quests. You need a points into your Mastery to unlock different tiers of skills. Not only that but you get more max Health, Mana and attributes that suit your class.
Both Nedian and Earth give me Dexterity and Intelligence, but no Strength. Thus I opted for a Mage.
Maxing out your Masteries means that when you put attribute points into your skills later, you get a higher multiple and thus a higher statline. As you can see, I have 40 attribute points left to spend because I do not need to and I want a stranger end-game character.
Thus I only place one point per skill I am currently using and will max them out later. The Vest of the Wandering Goat allows me to use all my skills on level 2, which makes me essentially 3-4 levels higher.
The Vest does have a cool sort of asian feel to it. Goes well with my Wu class. I am probably going to wear this for a long time before finding a suitable alternative!
Another giant gate broken... this is never a good sign...
And there it is, the creature for which the game is named... a Titan!
In his chains and just as the Telkin with the sickle gets to him. With flashbacks of how you were unable to prevent the first Telkine from destroying the conduit to the Gods at the end of Act 1, you can do nothing to prevent what is happening.
The moment you begin to walk down, the Telkine frees Thyphus and he gets out of there.
As you can see around Ormenos' feet I hit him with Shen Pao... no damage.
You get to see Typhus go through a portal and if you sit there long enough the Telkine will begin attacking you.
This guy is pretty tough, but as I said in a previous part, the second Telkine is the strongest out of the vanilla 3 Telkine you need to fight.
"There is another."- Master Yoda.
But we will not fight that one until we go to Atlantis... much later.
So you slay the Telkine... time to go through another portal...
Which leads to Mount Olympus itself! Straight outta jail and the first this this Titan goes is goes after the most powerful beings in the cosmos to take them DOWN! Either he is crazy or he is mad.
Either way, he IS a repeat offender as he goes back to do the thing that put him in jail in the first place!
You fight your way through automatons and undead...
... and through minotaurs, with Minotaur Lords the size of the Minotaur King boss from Act 1.
I never really thought about it, but marvel how this structure never got damaged in the slightest while that massive Titan moved through here and smashed through yet another gate beyond... lol...
...Then you fight your way through a squad of Cyclopses. These are tougher than the Cyclops in Act 1.
And finally Typhus.
I could probably write a while Guide on how to deal with this guy. Buy 150 potions of Health and how ever many energy potions your class needs. No doubt, he is tough. He has so many spells, and he has a fast casting speed, that by the time that he finishes one spell, he can cast another. Let me list them.
- Lightnight bolt, as in the screenshot. Lots of damage. Dodge it.
- Fire breath, lots of damage, get out of the cone of fire, if caught, it will also rapidly burn you so drink plenty potions.
- Energy drain. Almost undodgable. As soon as he hits you with this, you need an energy potion. If your energy drops to zero then all your reserve mana skills will drop off of you.
- Health drain. This is why you need to have 150 potions. This battle will be long and difficult. Drawn out due to this ability.
- Thorns. In the picture you can see the thorns active. If you are a close combat hitter, you will suffer massive return damage from this.
- Meteor. This is the big killer! Like any other ability that drops on your head and stuns you (like the big Neanderthal King guy in Act 3) if it hits you and you stop moving, you die. Besides that it deals a lot of damage. Combo this up with another hit from magic and you have a big problem.
There was another spell but can't remember it right now... hmmm....
Anyway, the Meteor is the one you need to watch out for. If he lifts his arms to the sky, you run!
Finally you beat him and you see his flesh melt off before the bones disintigrate and he dissapears. Leaving an Orb of loot.
Here comes Zeus' disembodied voice with his problematic message. "Oh you humans have proven you can do things yourself from now on. The link between our world and yours has been severed so you are now on your own. Humans have shown that they are capable of handling their own destiny and stuff. Cheers and good luck."
.This was very soon proven to be wrong... and increasingly so...
But on point immediatley... I am standing in Olympus! That IS their world. 🤨
I found the boots that is part of a set. The Imperial Greaves. This is for a warrior. Yin and Yang in that list are two swords so definitely something for Warfare or Rune Masteries.
Oh wait, what it this? Another Mysterious portal?! Hmmmmmmm....
Where to does it lead?
Actually, this used to lead to the credits, then back to the main screen and it would unlock the Epic Difficulty Level.
But we have all the expansions so this instead leads us to Act IV - join me again next week for Part 7 to find out!
Cheers!
