No Power - The reason for a gap in daily blogging.
I am absolutely frustrated!
Being unable to post means delays in my FUND RAISING!
In South Africa, we have load shedding - systemic power cuts because the psuedo-state run power supply company Eskom is unable to provide electricity to the whole country reliably.
Every time there is a hiccup in their generating capacity, the load shedding gets worse.
So we were on a "Stage 2" which mean 2x 2.5 hour cuts in the day... this is today's schedule:
So let's consider my day... I went to bed at around 12 so the power was out (22:00 till 00:30) and then I woke up at 5:00, so the power was out. I have between 6:30 and 7:30 to quickly heat food, eat, write this quick blog/rant and get dressed. Then I go work.
While I work, there will be a 4.5 hour powercut from 12:00 till 16:30 which means that should my work involve client machines that do not have backup power... 4.5 of my 8.5 work day wasted.
However, I should be at the office doing H&S work so I will see what happens. Perhaps I will not need power at that time.
Then I go home 16:30, I have power till 20:00. That's 8 o'clock. The time between home time and 8 or 9 is the time I get home, shower, make food, eat food with the family and spend some time with them.
After 9pm is my blogging time!
And the power will be off from 8pm till midnight!!!!
Tomorrow (Friday) has the exact same schedule so I am truly stuffed.
If I have enough time to charge my phone and my laptop, I can host an internet connection on my phone and use my laptop for around 40mins until its power is finished.
So I will need to do the following until Loadshedding Stage 4 and 6 are gone:
- Post from my phone (when possible).
- Post shorter content
- Enable Ecency Decks and Leo Threads on my phone.
SIGH
This is not really helping me with my struggles and peace of mind.
Thank you for reading this post.
Cheers!

I am currently raising funds for a friend. Please help if you can! Details about the fund raiser HERE
😏 That’s really annoying. Having a stable energy infrastructure is so important for industrialized countries.
It's absolutely atrocious.
That they say that there is no money for it is nonsense. No money can be made with the power going off the whole time!

! help
(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoThat really sucks ! Are they having a problem with cable theft, or is it just that they've got the money and it's a corruption issue ?
Something we bought last winter when it looked like we'd be getting power outages was a generator - not a petrol one, but more of a storage device like a souped-up UPS that can be charged up when there's power or through the attached solar panels. It'll hold enough power to run a fridge, freezer or PC for a few hours, so not enough for a whole house, but enough to make life bearable.
Sounds like you need to create an HBD earnings fund to save up for something like that, or some other way to store power independent of Eskom ! Self-sufficiency is the way to go !
They have been having this issue for years. It's only going to get worse.
Yeah... after I sort out this fund raiser for the 40k guy... I should look into that.
