I felt like I was dying yesterday...

avatar

Hey everyone. I don't know if I look it, but I definitely still feel like I am trying to claw my way back from the brink of death.

Is that melodramatic?

Does it seem like I have a bad case of the "Man-flu?"

Perhaps. My partner says that she has never met anyone with such an implacable work ethic and that often put my work first before myself and my health. I drive myself really hard.

But Thursday night I could not breathe and last night (Friday night) my chest was in so much pain I nearly asked @clairemobey to rush me to the hospital!

Right now I have to just focus on breathing shallowly and not coughing or sneezing as either of those two things brings me massive amounts of pain shooting through my chest.

So I am taking things easy.

I feel a bit guilty about the lack of control on site and my lack of production/progress on Hive, but I have to first survive this and then I can worry about getting to something more later!

I hope everyone else stays healthy and happy!

Cheers!
@zakludick

My good friend, looks like you're really going through it. Your dedication to your work is admirable, but taking care of yourself should always come first. Wishing you a speedy recovery and better days ahead bro

Thank you. Being able to breathe without pain is the first step towards recovery. Then because to cough or sneeze without pain would be the next step...

Hi Zac, one of my younger friends who is super fit, had the H1N1 flu recently. She said she's never been so ill and it took her a long time to get over it, left her with a very bad cough. She was at the doctor twice.
You have to rest, drink lots of fluids to thin the mucous, and go back to doc if you don't feel better.
Take care.

Yeah. @clairemobey's mother suggested that I might have also gotten some strain of COVID. lol

Well, whatever it was, it hurt my lungs badly but seems to be on the mend.

Get well soon ! Don't worry about posting on Hive until you're feeling better, health comes first.

Then tell work it must be some chemical you breathed in deep in the bowels of that rustbucket you've been working on, and you deserve extra hazard pay going forward 😁

Indeed. My lungs need to heal. It's like fireworks of pain. Each time I cough or sneeze.

Hang in there and get yourself healthy. I find that a very hot broth with some crushed up ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or aspirin dissolved in it helps immensely.

Nah these gremlins go for the chest, not a case of 'man-flu' more a case of rest and brewed roots of ginger and turmeric, if you unable to cope drinking either, or try one.

Solution to ease cough; half jar honey, couple teaspoons (about 1/2 bottle) Borsdruppels mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice, sip when coughing attacks you.

Feel better soon, you look like a bus has hit you!
