HIVE PROGRESS - The yet unnamed Activity Group's 2023 Progress Report Week 1

Good day everyone! Happy New Year!

Welcome to the first ever Acticity Group post which now replaced my weekly Household plus Hive Students posts last one was here. As I explained in my post HIVE COMMUNITY - 2023 An era for new growth in Hive! - my intention is to build an Activity Group of 100 active members. There will be a list of less active folks that we will keep track of in another list maybe so we do not forget about them.

As stated previously, this Activity Group will be South African - centrist because I onboard people that I come into contact with and thus activity and reciprocal growth is gained with people we have contact with. It will also include any and all friends and interested parties in the community and group.

I will continue to onboard a new little "Squad/Classroom" of 2023 Hive Newbies and continue to teach them. Where I see the opportunity to help and educate a Redfish account, I shall help anyone and everyone.

Where the community observes an account that is posting content that does not fall into the good code of conduct of Hive, we shall as a community have the opportunity to rectify their behavior and to always promote a decent level of post quality in the community.

The idea and concept of an Activity Community are to have people interact with one another. There are some people who even have strong accounts on Hive and they might even get good votes on Hive, but they are Islands, and not enough people talk to them and interact with them or even to LEARN from what they have to say.

So they become powerhouses on Hive whose support and knowledge go a-wasted on.

There are also the smaller accounts that make wonderful content and the activity community and they deserve to be supported!

Definition: As per the @arcange Hive Statistics posts, inactive accounts are those who "have not posted, commented or voted the last 30 days."

I would prefer that users remain active on a weekly basis and to Post, Comment and Vote at least on a weekly basis. Hive rewards you for your post content after 7 days, so always having SOMETHING pending payout is a great idea! However, I will keep people with activity newer than 30 days on the active list.

Right, I have explained enough for now I think. Onwards to stats and activity. For this post I am omitting the Guides section at the top of the post and will probably make a compilation to make one link for at the footer of this Report.

The New Report format

So this is the first of the year. There will no longer be a separate section for the Class of 2022 and the others and the post and comment activity will be squished together for students (Like I had for the other people on that report before.)

Joining us, will be A LOT of additional accounts. I will be able to mark of Posting activity, but until next week, I will not know what your week's growth was!

Additionally, the list will start with the Largest HP class at the top and put people into the groupings: Whale, Orca, Dolphin, Minnow and Redfish. Once of the aims of the Activity Group is to build more active Minnows and Dolphins.

3736 Active Minnows and 1036 Active Dolphins is a shockingly low number! Even the 18,032 Active Redfish is a low number. This community will strive to pump those numbers up!

This community of the current 44 Active Accounts are equal to 56,61% of a Whale! 100 Active accounts would be better!

The 12 Dolphin Accounts are equal to 2.1 Orca Accounts!

The 20 Minnow Accounts are equal to 7.6 Dolphin Accounts!

The 10 Redfish Accounts are equal to 3.4 Minnow Accounts!

The total HP of my personal household in HP is 2594,374HP, last week was 2540,426HP so a gain of +53,948HP!

I like the new format ! Much more structured and concise than the previous version 😀

I've got a couple of ideas already;
Number 1 - run a competition to find the community name. Find a way to get people to vote on it (I know it can be done, I saw it in SaturdaySavers). You get a veto on any daft names, of course. Whoever wins, I get them an SBI as the prize (which helps me, I've set myself a personal goal for the year of growing my SBI's gained and/or bought to around 150).

Number 2 - once we've got a community name, create it as a community within Ecency. Then, if people tag all their posts with the community name, it becomes easy to find and upvote each other, as well as a good hub for posting & pinning important info.

No worries! You are doing so much already! The fish pond is growing bigger and stronger hey. I am planning on doing some onboarding this year as well. Its a heavy burden one is willing to take on your shoulders! But I think in the long run a good one.

Also you can check out the Hive Guides I wrote on this post. That is usually what I send to people on Whatsapp etc when they start.

I start with the first two and if they read that, then move on as they ask questions.

Thanks yes! It is quite a story to spin to people who are not familiar with either crypto or blogging. But I have met so many people who would flourish in this environment. It is just about exposing them to it. I will definitely use your work thanks!

What I find with the onboarding is that it gets easier and easier to more population dense you make it.

In the beginning, you might just be this one guy who does Hive. But I have been building the Hive community near and far in South Africa for example, but when you are at a braai with 10 people who each and everyone at least HAS an Hive account, it gets so much more relevant!

After that, if there are 3 or 4 people at that braai who are not on Hive, they find it a lot easier to sign up. There are some people who at LEAST sign up. Perhaps when the population density increases even more they shall find their way back to their accounts. That is why it so important to get them to save those keys!

Exactly. I met up with a creative friend yesterday and we talked about Hive and the potential it has regarding artists and writers especially from South Africa where the arts are mostly neglected. If we can onboard a big group of South African artists and writers, we can in fact begin a small group that supports the arts and make workshops with the help of and through Hive. I know of so many poets, writers, and artists who give up their trade because they cannot make any money from it and because social media (Facebook and so on) is not idea places to share creative work.

Your class of pupils are also creative souls (music and so on). So you might know the plight of the creative soul in a world where these talents are not harvested.

Indeed. And @lex-zaiya and myself write fiction as well.

We plan on getting to a certain point in our Mortis Custos work and then edit it for publication. Probably on KDP or Smashwords. We will cross that bridge when we get there. The final product might be a little different from what is published on the blockchain but since Chainstories are improv and free writing, it is allowed to be!

That is awesome though, congrats! If I remember correctly, there is another author on Hive that posted their book on here, or wrote the work here, and got it published. Best of luck! I am sure you will get it done.

Happy 2023 Zak, it's been a busy start I almost missed this.
Great that you are up and running with the year already, we had a good run in 2022, am sure we can replicate our efforts and possibly do better this year.
