Fell off the horse a bit. Burnout and Regeneration
Good day all. It's been a while.
My activity count has been nearly nothing for the last week. Besides being very busy, the times that I did have to write something I was too burnt out to really write anything.
It's not a light thing when I say that I reached my limit and needed to do a bit of a reset. And this was done not while having a holiday. I still needed to work, sometimes a bit extra actually. I still needed to be a dad and a supportive partner.
But when there are too many things going on at the same time that saps your strength, then you are bound to fall.
So where to start?
The last year has not been a rollercoaster. Despite my OPTIMISM, this last year has been hard knocks one after the other and I... we... as a family needed to weather them.
- 3 Human family deaths in the family this year.
- 1 Family pet death this year.
- Another Family pet was injured and at risk of dying.
- My partner was retrenched from her work and her boss, not understand the basic responsibilities of an employer thought she could do it without paying a severance which meant that we needed to go the legal route to get that basic requirement.
- Stress at work due to certain unhappy groups that demand impossible things from my employer. These are the worst workers, not the best and they are making it terrible for the rest.
- Hard projects that I have been busy with and starting again. High stakes, high stress.
- Renovations were suddenly being done at our home, without even 1 day's notice and the workers started invading our private spaces and this caused me stress as well!
Adding all of this together and a number of other things, my ability to deal with and just "handle" all the issues becomes less and less.
So I needed a reset! At least just on the writing part. I needed to give myself a bit of grace. Not posting was something that I would usually berate myself for, but I have learned to be kind to myself.
So what I will do now is do a post and do a project at home. We have some people coming over tonight and I have quite a lot of tasks to do.
But I am basically back again. I feel a lot better. I just needed to give myself some time.
Thanks for reading!
Cheers!

🙌🏻 I know exactly what you mean Zak! There’s these times where simply too many challenges add up. Hope you can find time to recover and get back on track.
Best regards and have a nice weekend
Cheers man! Thank you.
Dude! That is all so much stuff! I'd be so exhausted! I'm glad you're going the legal route with your wife's employer... companies are always going to try and screw over workers so we have to try and at least make that difficult for them... but I'm sorry all this has happened to you all... you all deserve a bit of a rest I reckon.
Yeah. Unfortunately I won't be able to take a rest before the end of the year. I have a 30+ day project coming up in the Harbour for 12 hour shifts consecutively. So I just have to stick it out!
Whoa! Well I hope you get a good break early next year then.
Thanks mate. At least this weekend I am off. We are about to braai.
Just using a fire pit. 😁
I've literally got my fire pit going right now! I just came in after adding some more wood!
Haha! Awesome! I hope you enjoyed that!
I was going to say get a bigger horse, but after reading this it is understandable. A shame really as this is the prime time to have been active. Lets hope things come right for you guys as life is more challenging now than ever before.
I'll catch up. The opportunities are still there I reckon!
