DATE NIGHT: Weekend Experience - Woodstock Brewery. Great live music from a local performers.

Hello everyon on Hive and expecially the good people that share their Weekend Experiences in this community! I am Zak Ludick from South Africa.

It's Date Night for two parents in South Africa as @zakludick and @clairemobey venture forth to an exciting venue and also support a local musician who we now know and have made friends with.

Claire and I celebrate "monthiversaries" every month and we are now 33 months together. From the moment I discovered this woman, it was love at first sight. Thought we were wary at first, both having been hurt badly in the past, we pretty much count the 1st of January 2020 as our first meeting, first kiss and anniversary date. Thus the start of each month we have our monthiversary!

It is not always possible to celebrate in a big way. Sometimes it is as simple as getting each other a small little gift and watching some Netflix at home to an outing such as this!

Let's get into the weekend experience: Live music at Woodstock Brewery!

Claire looking sexy with her glasses on.

Here is myself and Lukin Joshua, one of the two acts of the night. You will also see the two of us together on this post here, where we both went to support the people playing at an open mic event at the Salt and Sage.

So sassy!

This place has a couple of massive screens mounted throughout the promises but this was the largest. Perfect for watching the rugby or cricket when it is on!

This restaurant is above an actual brewery. You can check them out on https://woodstockbrewery.co.za/ to see what they all have. I tried the Weiss craft beer.

This restaurant is quite spacious. I don't think they get too full otherwise there would be more tables maybe? Or was it just open like this to allow for a dance floor area?

I ordered something as a starter and they dropped off this sauce on our table! Interesting and spicy flavor!

All the musician's kits were already set up for both acts of the evening.

Our starter arrived which we shared. Cheesy loaded fries with bacon bits!

Lukin Joshua and Daniel Nuttall take to the stage!

Lukin and Daniel played an absolutely amazing set. The thing that is great about Lukin is that he got everyone involved and engaged as well as relaxed. Improv ability on stage is great, making a song up on the spot!

To top it off, the dreaded Eskom smacked the power out in the middle of the improv song and Dan's electric went silent. In the pitch blackness of the brewery, Lukin played on and he raised his voice while the sound engineers and such scuttled around to check cables and things while they popped over to backup power!

He did not miss a beat and just carried on with the song and when power was restored Dan's guitar came back to life and they finished it!

Our main course was a platter of German sausages together with pretzels.

The other band of the evening was Crosscurrent. Wonderful set. Guitarist/vocals, pianist and drummer. They were most entertaining! I was quite inspired by the drummer on his electric drums. Of course you cannot play those with the power out... but you can use them with headphones which would be cool in a suburban area and you just want to learn!

And that's it! It was an amazing date with my beautiful @clairemobey! Thank you for reading my post!

Cheers!

What a special evening my love. It felt so luxurious for us to actually take some time out for ourselves. It was also lovely to be in the audience for a change, and watch other people get a little bit of stage jitters! It was a great evening overall. Thank you my love <3

lol, well, if you google "German pretzel" or "oktoberfest pretzel" then you shall see that they are indeed just German Pretzels and the traditional ones you would eat with saurkraut and beer. Not the tiny biscuit things we buy in packets here lol
