Today I have brought you a beautiful pincushion cactus that I made by reusing a butter container and I also used other materials.
I made this beautiful Cactus to give it to my daughter as a gift since she is now away from home studying at the university and this way she has her threads and needles organized.

Hoy les he traído un Hermoso Cactus Costurero Alfiletero que realice reutilizando un envase de mantequilla y también utilice otros materiales.
Este hermoso Cactus lo realice para dárselo a mi hija de regalo ya que ahorita está fuera de casa estudiando en la universidad y de esta forma tiene sus hilos y agujas organizados.

Disfrute mucho realizando esta manualidad así que los invito a que me acompañen y así les enseño cómo la realice.

Pasemos a los materiales.

Materials.

• Empty 500 grams mavesa butter container.
• White acrylic paint.
• Black acrylic paint.
• Cinnamon acrylic paint.
• Green felt
• Red felt.
• Yellow foam.
• Brown foami.
• Green thread.
• Needle.
• Silicone stick.
• Silicone gun.
• Pieces of wadding.
• Mold.
• Scissors
• Brush.
• Sponge.

Materiales.

• Envase vacío de mantequilla mavesa de 500 gramos.
• Pintura acrílica blanca.
• Pintura acrílica negra.
• Pintura acrílica canela
• Fieltro verde
• Fieltro rojo.
• Foami amarillo.
• Foami marrón.
• Hilo verde.
• Aguja.
• Barra de silicón.
• Pistola de silicón.
• Trozos de guata.
• Molde.
• Tijeras
• Brocha.
• Esponja.

Let's make it.

First we will make the pot.

Vamos a elaborarlo.

Primero haremos una maceta.

• The first thing I did after cleaning the butter container well, was to apply two coats of white acrylic paint with the help of a brush, letting it dry between coats.
• This includes painting the container and the lid.

• Lo primero que hice luego de limpiar bien el envase de mantequilla, fue aplicarle dos capas de pintura acrílica blanca con la ayuda de una brocha, dejando secar entre capa y capa.
• Esto incluye pintar el envase y la tapa

• Then, to give it a more rustic look, apply white acrylic paint with the sponge, tapping lightly until it is well covered, let it dry.

• Luego para darle un aspecto más rústico le aplique pintura acrílica blanca con la esponja, dando pequeños golpecitos, hasta quedar toda bien cubierta, deje secar.

• After wetting the sponge in the tan acrylic paint, I applied it to the whole container and the lid, leaving small white spaces.
• To apply the black color I dampened the sponge and then removed the excess on a sheet of paper and gave a light touch to the container.

• Luego de haber humedecido la esponja en la pintura acrílica color canela, se la coloque a todo el envase y a la tapa dejándole pequeños espacios en blanco.
• Para aplicar el color negro humedeci la esponja luego retire el excente en una hoja de papel y fui dándole ligeros toque a el envase.

• The center of the lid I left blank because I will put felt on it.

• El centro de la tapa lo deje en blanco por qué le colocaré fieltro.

• Cut a circle in felt to place in the center of the lid, and a thin strip of felt to place around the container at the bottom.
• For the base cut a circle in brown foami.

• Corte un círculo en fieltro para colocarlo en el centro de la tapa, y una tira de fieltro delgada para colocarlo alrededor del envase en la parte baja.
• Para la base corte un círculo en foami marrón.

• I put hot silicone on the base of the container and glued the brown foami.
• Then I put silicone on the thin felt tape that I cut and glued it to the bottom of the container.

• Le coloque silicón caliente en la base del envase y pegue el foami marrón.
• Luego le coloque silicón a la cinta delgada de fieltro que corte y lo fui pegando en la parte baja del envase.

This way the pot is ready.

De está forma quedó lista la maceta.

Let's elaborate the Cactus.

Elaboremos el Cactus.

• I take the mold and place it on top of the felt and cut it out 6 times.

• Tomo el molde y lo coloco encima del fieltro y lo recortó 6 veces.

Let's move on to assembling the cactus.

Pasemos a armar el cactus.

• I take two pieces and put one on top of the other.
• We start sewing using the scallop stitch, which consists of inserting the needle with the thread at the bottom.
• Then we take it out at the height where we are going to sew the seam.
• Then we pull the thread which we leave as a leaf and introduce the needle and then pull to secure, as indicated in the photo.
• The stitching was done all around the edge.

• Tomo dos piezas y pongo una encima de la otra.
• Empezamos a coser utilizando el punto Festón el que consiste en introducir la aguja con el hilo en la parte de abajo.
• Luego la sacamos a la altura que vamos a ir realizando la costura.
• Luego vamos halando el hilo el cual dejamos como un hojal e introducimos la aguja y luego halamos para asegurar, como indico en la foto.
• Le realizó la costura por todo el borde.

• After cooking, I will have three parts of the cactus, I place one on top of the other and sew a seam around the center.

• Luego de haber cocido me van a quedar tres partes del cactus coloco una encima de la otra y realizó una costura por todo el centro.

• After finishing the stitching I secure at the top by tying a knot.
• Separated the parts of the cactus

• Luego de haber terminado la costura aseguro en la parte de arriba haciendo un nudito.
• Separó las partes del cactus.

• We begin to fill by inserting the pieces of wadding, helping me with a stick.

• Empezamos a rellenar introduciéndo los pedazos de guata, me voy ayudando con un palito de altura.

• Then we bake the bottom side.
• This is what the bottom and the top of our tender cactus look like.

• Luego cocemos por la parte de abajo.
• Así luce la parte de abajo y la parte de arriba de nuestro tierno cactus.

• We put hot silicone on the bottom.

• Le colocamos silicón caliente a la parte de abajo.

• We glue on the top of our pot making a little pressure.

• Pegamos en la parte de arriba de nuestra maceta haciendo un poco de presión.

Elaboration of the flower.

Elaboración de la Flor.

• I take a rectangle of red felt measuring 12 cm long by 2 cm wide and I cut it giving it these cuts like petals.
• Then I take a rectangle of yellow foami measuring 3 cm long by 1 cm wide and I cut it out making it like sticks.

• Tomo un rectángulo de fieltro rojo que mide 12 cm de largo por 2 de ancho y la recortó dándole estos cortes como semejando unos pétalos.
• Luego tomo un rectángulo de foami amarillo de 3 cm de largo por 1 cm de ancho y lo voy recortando haciendo como unos palitos.

• I applied hot silicone to the edge of the foami and wrapped it to make the pistils.

• Le aplicó silicón caliente en el borde al foami y lo envuelvo para hacer los pistilos.

• Then I place it on top of the red foami petals, apply hot silicone and start wrapping until the flower is formed.

• Luego lo coloco encima de los pétalos del foami rojo le aplicó silicón caliente y empiezo a envolver hasta formar la flor

• Look how pretty the little flower turned out.

• Miren que linda quedó la florecita.

• Now I put hot silicone on the bottom and glue it to the top of the cactus.

• Ahora le coloco silicón caliente en la parte de abajo y la pego en la parte superior del cactus.

• Cut out some little hearts in felt and glue them to the bottom of the pot to make it look more chip.

• Recorte unos corazoncitos en fieltro y se los pegue en la parte de abajo de la maceta para que se vea más chip.

• These are some of the needles and pins I will be using.

• Estos son parte de los hilos agujas y alfileres que estaré utilizando.

This is how beautifully this cute pincushion sewing box was finished.

Así de hermoso quedó terminado este Lindo Costurero Alfiletero.

I was very pleased with this work, it looks very nice, and I know my daughter will love it as soon as she sees it, this is one of the first crafts I plan to do to bring a little bit of her home to the residence where she is living.
