Ever being bored?
It is said that "the idle mind is the devil's workshop." When you are not doing anything resourceful in my nation; the phrase stated above is something you'd hear every day "non-stop." The very first time I heard this phrase, I thought it was way too harsh to be said to someone, but as I grew older, I got to understand it better from a different perspective.
The phrase simply means, "When a person isn't engaged in some productive activities, his mind is likely to be filled with negative thoughts." In my part of the world, people only look at it from the unemployment perspective, then they tag you as being "lazy," but that isn't always the case.
The nature of my job doesn't require me to work every day, I work five days a week and have the weekend all to myself, and these weekends sometimes I would just be in the house doing nothing and my mind is filled with different thoughts, often I'd just be and ask myself "why did you even think of this in the first place?" That is to say, when I'm not engaged in any activities, the kind of thoughts that could be roaming through my head sometimes aren't even relevant.
Our minds were built to dwell on things both the relevant and the reverse; we cannot take our minds off the kind of things we think; no matter how we try to avert certain thoughts, they keep coming when we aren't doing anything. "Let's just say our minds wander off to some places unknown." Now, how do I deal with boredom?
I've come to realize that boredom refers to the state of our minds; we feel bored when our minds aren't occupied with things like our daily tasks at the office or talking to certain people. The first thing I do whenever the state of boredom steps in is to "watch a movie." Yeah!! I love watching movies, but not like a freak, though. Maybe you can add a little freak to it, but politely. Watching movies isn't the only remedy that I apply because there are times I won't feel like watching a movie, and in cases like that, I would just engage in something else.
The second thing that attracts my attention in today's world is the internet, just like the Airtel advert says "data is life" I always tell people if you have a smart and data subscription you won't be bored because we have apps like Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram and some other apps that have made life a little easy for us with the different contents that is being posted on these platforms. We are being blessed with content creators who have made it their priority to put smiles on our faces with their amazing skits. Often, when I hold my phone and turn on my mobile data, I just stream things online, and before you know it, "boredom disappears".
The moment I start scrolling through my feeds and start watching movies, I won't feel the passage of time; before I know it, it's already dark, and I would just prepare myself and go to bed. Spending time on the internet reduces boredom.
Thanks for reading
Yes o, whenever I am idle, I think of so many things I shouldn't even think about, and that is when I always remember who is more successful than me, lol 😂 but then watching movies and house chores is the only thing that could make me feel better after getting so tired of doing it.
You remember that "oh my God" thats very funny though,

I agree with you that leisure is the mother of the devil, generally people start inventing what they shouldn't when they are idle.
I share with you the idea of watching some interesting movie or series online, so I get ideas for my content.
Yeah!!! When someone is idle the thoughts in their head can be funny too
Watching movies and listening to music is a bae. Nothing kills boredom like that
Yeah!!! You are correct
You are right about an idle mind is the devil's workshop. Sometimes if am bored I start thinking negative things that I shouldn't be thinking and later ask myself what's wrong with .e and why am I thinking about this. But after watching movies my boredom disappear.
Yeah!!! I watch movies too, but then there are times I won't feel like doing so; I would engage in something else entirely.
Data is life o but sometimes one can still get tired of the internet. But in all it really helps fight boredom.
I don't get tired of the internet though.
Hi, Tari. Indeed, an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. I don’t think I can ever be bored if I’m with my phone and it is loaded with data.
Yeah!! Same as me, I don't ever get bored when I have my phone and data.
