What kind of automation should we expect in 10 years?
I was doing some research today on the 10 careers of the next 10 years coz a friend of mine asked me to help out with an article about that and it got me thinking about how redundant a lot of people might become in just a matter of years.
I remember seeing a picture of a helicopter pilot and a cameraman taking a drone shot of an event, both men are currently being replaced by a kid holding a controller with a drone in the air. If that doesn't get you thinking, then I don't know what will.
We're still within the early days of AI and automation yet we see how quickly ChatGPT and AI arts are taking over the jobs of copywriters and artists. This makes me wonder what more would become highly automated in just a short period.
No doubt, AI has been in the works for a while now. ChatGPT for instance has been in creation for about 7 years now and has investments from some of the richest sources in the world so yeah, it'll take a while before the underdogs get a hang of it and make it rampant.
However, a while isn't that long and yes, they are coming for your job. So, the question is, what kind of automation should we expect to see in the next couple of years that will be extremely unexpected?
What's in and what's not?
In a couple of articles I read, they talked about how indispensable people in the medical field are and I'm inclined to agree, however, not all fields are indispensable.
Consultants and other seemingly lower levels are almost definitely going to be replaced by machines, alongside pharmacists because these are jobs that can easily be outsourced.
However, surgeons and other seemingly higher-level fields might take a while longer before they'll be replaced for the simple fact that human organs need to be handled with care and I'm not so sure we'll be able to hand over such responsibility to robots just yet.
Other articles mentioned financial advisors being indispensable and I completely disagree. They're definitely getting replaced in the coming years due to how important they are and how, well, untrustworthy humans can be.
In the coming years, people are going to get a lot more involved in investing and sourcing ways to earn more money through stocks, bonds, forex and all that. This is going to increase the relevance of affordable and easy-to-access financial managers, hence the need for automation in this field.
Conclusion
These are entirely my opinions, however, I believe I think far and critically enough for me to be right. While there are a variety of career options out there, I suggest people needing to change careers or get new careers to do proper research on what careers would maintain relevance or seek out ways to create some relevance in their career choice.
