CCC's Street Art Contest #152 -Space of the Martyrs / Espacio de los Mártires

I keep walking around the city in search of incredible murals and in that walk I stumbled upon one that for a long time had gone unnoticed, it is an artistic work located at the foot of Block 3 of 23 de Enero, which is located in a popular area in the west of the city of Caracas, according to what I could read in a corner of this immense piece its creator is called Luis Martinez and the work dates from 2011, which makes me think that it was created during the celebrations of the bicentennial of the independence of my country, is made with ceramic fragments and attached to the wall by cement or glue, also has a fairly large dimensions and perfectly enlivens a small square that serves as an entry point into the interior of the building.

Sigo caminando por la ciudad en la búsqueda de increíbles murales y en ese andar me tropecé con uno que durante mucho tiempo había pasado desapercibido, se trata de una obra artística ubicada a los pies del Bloque 3 del 23 de Enero, el cual se ubica en una zona popular del oeste de la ciudad de Caracas, según lo que pude leer en una esquina de esta inmensa pieza su creador se llama Luis Martínez y la obra data del año 2011, lo cual me hace pensar que fue creada durante las celebraciones del bicentenario de la independencia de mi país, está elaborada con fragmentos de cerámica y unidas a la pared mediante cemento o pego, además cuenta con unas dimensiones bastante grandes y ameniza de forma perfecta a una pequeña plaza que sirve como punto de ingreso al interior del edificio.

The mural is titled "Space of the Martyrs" and presents as its main idea the thought and image of the popular fighter Cheo Pirela, who according to popular accounts is a young man who gave his life in 1983 while he was in the struggle for democracy, social demands and improvements for his community, In this work you can also clearly appreciate the mountains that surround the city, the surrounding blocks and a people that marches united, under the same flag, with the same song and a deep spirit of struggle, always peacefully seeking democratic solutions to all the problems and improvements demanded by a community that for many years was excluded by the elites who controlled the power.

El mural lleva como título “Espacio de los Mártires” y presenta como idea principal al pensamiento y la imagen del luchador popular Cheo Pirela, quien según los relatos populares se trata de un joven que dio su vida en el año 1983 mientras estaba en la lucha por la democracia, las reivindicaciones sociales y las mejoras para su comunidad, en esta obra también se puede apreciar de forma muy clara a las montañas que rodean la ciudad, los bloques circundantes y a un pueblo que marcha unido, bajo una misma bandera, con un mismo canto y un profundo espíritu de lucha, siempre buscando de forma pacífica las soluciones democráticas a todos los problemas y las mejoras que demanda una comunidad que durante muchos años estuvo excluida por las elites que controlaban el poder.
