Santiago de Veraguas: Panama's Growing Jewel Between Two Oceans

avatar

Santiago is still a small, growing city with low buildings and vibrant traffic. It is the capital of the province of Veraguas, which is located in the center of Panama and is the only one with coasts on both oceans.

It has always been a rural community, a necessary stop and commercial center for goods transported throughout the country, such as rice, coffee, sugar and corn, among many others. In recent years it has grown and developed so much that it is beginning to claim to be one of the main cities in the country and a must-see for travelers. There are a large number of international food franchises as well as first-class hotels, in addition to the existing local restaurants and traditional hostels.

We can tour the city, its beautiful houses and squares, visit the Juan Demóstenes Arosemena School, built more than sixty years ago, the La Pena Market or the National Museum of Veraguas.

From here we can visit the spectacular beach of Santa Catalina, the town of El Potrero, Coiba Island and discover the many other interesting places that this beautiful province of Veraguas has to offer.
