Prismologist - Splinterlands Social Media Challenge
Hey Splinterlands fans and everyone else!
Goog Night! I want to share my post and entry for the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge .
This week I've chosen a character from Chaos Legion so after looking at several characters, I've selected this girl here, who seems interesting with that power.
I initially created this character in Corel, but after a small setback where I lost some progress in the process, I switched back to Photoshop to finish up and recover what I had lost.
Compared to my recent fan art pieces for Splinterlands, particularly those of the Rebellion, I was able to obtain the lore for this one. You can read it below.
Prismologists are experts at illusory and light-based magic using prisms. Armed with their custom built prism, they bring them to the battlefield to manipulate magic around themselves. Light dances around them in a rainbow of colors as they lay waste to a bloody battlefield.
Those who wish to become Prismologists train at the Peace of Light Monastery from dawn until dusk with the goal of joining the order of the Spectrum Prism. Their mastery of light and glass allows them to perform spectacularly stunning and powerful magic.
In order to become a full-fledged Spectrum member and Prismologist, a spellcaster must craft their own Prism to use as a focus for their spells. Each summer solstice, future Prismologists journey from the Shimmer City to the deserts of Draykh Nahka to collect sand and create their own prism.
It is a challenging process involving facing multiple dragons in battle, heating the sand enough to become glass and making it through the desert alive. Not many manage to complete the task but those that do are a sight to behold.
I started this drawing with the background. I wanted to begin with this because I wanted to use a combination of brushes to try out different textures. If u can zoom in, u can see the textures in it.
After being satisfied with the background, I started working on the girl's face. I sketched a profile ummm it was a bit basic but it served its purpose to move forward.
As I progressed, I started adding more detail to things. I hadn't really done much with the background umm I just added a few more things to the face.
Everything was a bit too red, so I've been tweaking things a bit. Added a touch of brown to the hair and after that, along with a few other minor adjustments it was time to add the rest of the elements that represent the character.
I've been working on the armor pieces I added to the head, which would be the helmet, I guess. This step was quite a challenge because I was drawing in Corel Painter and suddenly the power went out for several hours. I lost all the progress I had made but I managed to salvage some of it thanks to the video I was recording.
I exported the video in Ps so I was able to recover something, I needed to add the crystals, there were just a few things missing to finish this portrait.
After detailing several things and finishing adding the missing parts of the armor I made some color adjustments, added various filters and finally completed this.
