The Holy Trinity.

One phrase used a lot and often thrown about is the holy trinity. I’ve heard this term so many times that sometimes I forget what it means. Not that I completely comprehend the meaning now but I have a fair knowledge of what it is now. So I thought I should share the little I know and learn more from this community or be corrected for misunderstanding a part or whole of the holy trinity.

Is the holy trinity God? Is it the Holy Spirit or is it the Father? or are they all the same? Stick with me and let’s find out what the holy trinity is.

From the English language, we know trinity means three. But the holy trinity is not just about English but it is biblical.

The holy trinity is regarded as the father, the son and the holy spirit all as one. Father, son and the Holy Spirit are all equally divine. This is one God. This is a very important foundation of the Christian faith.

We often hear some people say “God the father”, “God the son” and “God the Holy Spirit”. This is still the holy trinity as a way of describing God. The trinity does not in any way mean three Gods. Instead of saying trinity which can be quite confusing. It’s even confusing to me as I write this post, we could use the word Tri-Unity of God.

God the father is simple and quite easy to grasp. It’s just a way of informing everyone that God is the creator of the entire universe and everything in it. It reminds us all that there is a spiritual being up there who brought everything into existence.

God the son might be confusing for some people. Why do I say this? We all remember the story of Jesus Christ right? God the son tells us how God came down to the earth he created in the form of a human being just like us but as the son of virgin Mary. Others say God didn’t descend as a human and this is often regarded contradictory. According to John 3:16, God sent His son into the world and so that is why some people believe God is not literally the son.

God the holy spirit describes how powerful God is and how He manifests His power in our daily lives. In John 16:10, it can be found that God and His son sent the Holy Spirit.

God is different from the son and the Holy Spirit but it doesn’t mean, they are three different people. The father is God, the son is God and the Holy Spirit is God.

Even science has attempted to explain the trinity and it was done by Dr. Henry Morris. He says, “the universe is trinitarian by design” and that the universe is made up of three things. These are matter, space and time. It doesn’t stop here but he goes on to say that, “each one of those itself is a trinity”.

This means that matter contains mass, energy and motion while space is made up of length, height and breath and finally time is made of past, present and future.

The trinity being so difficult to understand and explain goes to tell us that God is beyond human comprehension and sets the limits on human speculation about the nature of God.

The holy trinity is a complex subject to dissect and it’s one that people are still trying to understand. I hope my little discussion about the trinity wasn’t very wrong. Suggestions and corrections will be very much appreciated.
