Growth And Positive Impacts of The Digital Community

The world as we know it is a global village and none of this would not have been achieved without technology. It is very surprising how small the world is and that is a fact I believe a lot of people are beginning to agree with. You’d be surprised!

Growing up, I didn’t interact so much with the digital community. I mostly just browsed the net during “Information Communication Technology” lessons in school. It wasn’t until towards my final year in Junior High School that I got a mobile device and began to fully immerse myself into the digital world. I created an email account, created a Facebook account and began to use YouTube a lot as well.

I barely use Facebook now but then my account is still active for the once in a while surfing. Before now, Facebook was the means by which I stayed connected with friends from Junior and Senior High school. I got friends who didn’t live in Ghana as well and always stayed interacted with them.

In senior high school, I started to use more of the learning platforms. Phones weren’t allowed in school but I managed to sneak a phone into school partly because I wanted to increase the use of these learning platforms and also because I wanted to use telegram. For me, telegram has always been a platform for movies. Using telegram to chat just seems weird to me. Maybe it also has to do with the number of scams that are done via telegram. You get a text from a user on telegram and almost all the time, it has to do with one scam or another. You even join a movie channel and after a while, it is turned into a porn site of a betting channel.

However, telegram in today’s world has become a hub for these new crypto “tap tap” projects. Hamster and tap swap are just 2 of the ever growing telegram crypto tap tap communities. The telegram digital community has somewhat changed the mindset of a lot of people into believing that it has a lot more to offer now. Some users have already made money via telegram and have made good connections.

Now, the YouTube and Tiltok communities are two that have also grown so much that a lot of people have joined the world of vlogging. The Covid 19 pandemic did help with the tremendous growth of YouTube and tiktok but then the content creators also put in a lot of work. These 2 communities have rewarded their creators with money and a source of livelihood. Some YouTubers quit their pre full time jobs to do YouTube full time and are making it big. “Mr who’s boss” on YouTube is one of such examples who quit his job to become a full time tech review er on YouTube. He talks about almost everything digital but most of his content is based on android on apple products.

Talking about other digital communities that have had positive impacts, the web3 space is one we cannot fail to mention. The web3 space has come with different alternatives to a lot of things and most importantly, has allowed us to handle our finances the way we want and when we want; decentralization. Using hive as an example, you are rewarded for contributing to the positive growth of the hive ecosystem. Some users of hive have formed long standing friendships and some have taken that to even greater steps like marriage.

I, myself have met good people in different countries due to hive. I have not seen most of them before and for some I haven’t even seen a single picture of theirs but the vibe is still good and we have meaningful conversations.

There are a lot more positive impacts the digital community has had on myself and the world in general.
