EcoFloat, Semester Of Fun Activities
this is me trying to enjoy the floatš
School programs like hall week celebrations, Student Representative Council (SRC) week celebrations are the highlights of our stay in school. Without these, our stay in school would be pretty much from class to lecture halls and from lecture halls to class. My school usually have these programs packed in the second semester of the school year. First semesters are usually quite boring but second semesters are filled with lots of fun.
That was the case last Saturday when one of the halls in my school planned a float as part of their hall week celebrations. Initially, I didnāt plan to go but convincing from @nhaji01 and @playmaker1 did the trick. Those 2 are relentless when they want you to attend an event with them š . All the same, it was fun.
We set out from our hostels at around 5:30 pm to meet up with the group who were already gathered. We would have missed the group if we hadnāt set out a little earlier.
on my way to meet up with the rest of the students
Before we left the school campus, there were some displays from the students and we werenāt allow to take pictures of the hall priests. The hall kind of has this āritualā where the priests are in charge of these so called rituals but we all they just make these things up.
meeting the rest of the group
We finally left campus and the singing and dancing started. There were no speakers because the organizers decided the drums were enough to keep the spirits up. They were partly right and partly wrong. Youāll know why they were wrong at the end of this post.
We stopped at the pharmacy and danced for quite some time before proceeding. Even I made some noise here because I knew the songs they were singing. You notice that weāre all dressed in red. The dress code was red tops to match with the hall colors.
At the pharmacy
We were basically going to walk from campus to the town square and back. We asked for a longtime and we even had to run at some point. Before we got to the town square, it got dark but we were still poised to make it.
We finally got to the town square after dancing, singing and drumming and that was where the true event started. I had no idea that was going to happen cos I always missed this float. For the 4 years Iāve been on this campus, this was the first time I attended a float organized by the ECOWAS hall.
I had no idea the hall priests were going to perform a āritualā. I bet you these were fake but they make it look so believable and realistic.
@playmaker and nhaji01 with the priests
After that, we danced and sang for a while and proceeded back to campus. The float back to campus was quite boring because all the singing, drumming and dancing had stopped. We were almost quite all the way back. Luckily, I walked with Nhaji so we were passed time by having a chat.
@rubilu dancing here as well š
@nhaji deceiving herself with her dance moves š
We finally got back to campus and boy was I tired. The only thing I could think about was sleep. I even dozed off while resting and getting ready for prayers but I had to wake up and pray and get some food to eat.
Though the float was tiring, it was very fun and entertaining. Iām happy I went.
Must really enjoyed your moment. Wish I was there to have fun too āŗ
This was my first time but it was still fun.we go again tomorrow.š
I was tired and there were stages during the float I regretted going for the float but it was a fun one. Mehn, since this are my last days on campus I wanna go for all the fun activities. I want to have a lot of stories to tell when I complete school. Now I am sure I will have a lot to tell.
I think the place you saw me dancing was the only time I danced lol.
