Today is Saturday and the post office in my town is closed. But I had to send an important piece of mail by registered mail. So I decided to go to the biggest post office in my area to mail. It was a 40-minute round trip, which is not a strenuous distance for a walker.
So I took some pictures along the way.

Here is an explanation.

Unmanned vegetable stands......There are still many fields left in the town where I live, and there are many unmanned vegetable stands. This is one of them, and it has a vending machine. I think it is run by a farmer who runs a farm nearby. Daikon radishes are 100 yen, and there is also one for 50 yen.

Jizo-san ...... This area is a cemetery, and there are many buckets and ladles to draw water, which I thought was interesting, but I decided to take a picture of the six Jizo-san lined up in a regular pattern.
I like Jizo because of the way they look. I used them as a motif of my paintings for a while.

Wood factory......There are several wood factories in this area. There were piles of cedar lumber and so on. They seem to be dealing with other domestic lumber. I took this picture because I thought it was unusual that it was covered with an orange cover.

A large post office...... is the post office where I did my business today. Unlike the post office in my town, there are many banners standing in a row. Even on Saturday, there were a few people who came here to do some business.

This is the Heights ...... Heights. I still can't distinguish between apartments and condominiums and heights. Well, it must be a small apartment complex. I took this picture because of the beautiful arabesque pattern in the window, but I had a hard time cropping it as a photo.

Political party poster display: ...... This is an eerie house with tangled ivy and a wall covered with political party posters. The political parties are a jumble of various parties. There are a few of these mixed party poster sites in Kyoto, but this one seems to be the biggest of them all.

Maiden camellia......I wanted to end with a picture of one of my favorite flowers, so I took this picture of a maiden camellia that was blooming at a nearby beauty parlor. It is one of my favorite flowers, with a gentle look.

今日は土曜日で、私の町の郵便局はお休みです。でも私は大事な郵便物を簡易書留で出さなければなりませんでした。そこで私の住む地域の中で一番大きな郵便局まで郵便を出しに行くことにしました。往復40分、ウォーキングとしてはそんなにしんどくない距離です。
なので途中で何枚か写真を撮りました。

以下、解説です。

野菜の無人販売所……私の住む町には田畑がまだまだ残っており、野菜の無人販売所がたくさんあります。ここはその中でも自動販売機なんかがあって立派な販売所です。近くで畑を営んでいる方がいて、その方による運営だと思います。大根100円です。50円のもあります。

お地蔵さん……このあたりは墓地で、水を汲むバケツやひしゃくもたくさんあって、それも面白いなと思ったのですが、やっぱり規則正しく並んだ6体のお地蔵さんを撮りました。
お地蔵さんは、なんとなくたたずまいが好きですね。一時期絵のモチーフにしていたこともありました。

木材工場……このあたりには木材工場もいくつかあります。杉材とかが積まれていました。ほか国産の木材を扱っているようです。オレンジ色のカバーがかかっているのが珍しく思い撮りました。

大きな郵便局……今日用事を済ませた郵便局です。私の町の郵便局と違い、のぼりがずらーっと立っています。土曜日でもここに用事がある人が数人来ていました。

ハイツ……ハイツです。私は未だにマンションやアパートとハイツの区別がつきません。まあ小規模な集合住宅でしょう。窓の中に見える唐草模様がきれいだったのでとったのですが写真としての切り取り方に苦労しました。

政党ポスター掲示場……この家は蔦が絡まっていて、そして塀は政党のポスターがびっしり貼ってあるというなんとも不気味な家です。政党は色んな政党がごちゃ混ぜになっています。こうしたごちゃ混ぜの政党ポスター掲示場は京都市内にいくつかありますが、ここはその中でもかなり大規模だろうと思われます。

乙女椿……最後はやっぱり私の好きな花の写真で締めくくりたいと思い、近所の美容室に咲いていた乙女椿を撮りました。優しい感じの、好きな花の一つです。
