On wheels again: rollerskating and skateboarding [EN/PT]

Keeping up with the new year's resolutions and as promises are debts, I went to UFJF for the second consecutive Sunday to shake off the rust by skating.
And I started noticing my 'progression'.
After putting on my roller skates, I could already stand up on my own and the jitters were fading away. I was feeling a bit more confident in my movements, although they were still pretty poorly executed. 🤷♀
At the beginning of the day, I was still taking it easy, but skating was flowing better... then I realized that the knee pads were really limiting my movements, being too tight. When I bought my gear, I was muuuuch less chubby than I am now and they fit fine, now I'll need to make some adjustments to the straps, to make it comfortable again while I don't lose enough weight (which is also part of my promises for 2024).
So, I decided to be a bit crazy and took off the pads. Totally reckless, because I'm a journalist, I work typing all day long and if I fell and hurt my wrist, I'd take a few days off - and without getting paid for it.
But surprisingly, I felt less bothered, with freer movements and started skating much better. I even decided to try some moves, which all came out pretty ugly, but it's the thought that counts.
Besides my roller skates, @michupa had brought his mini skateboard again and I decided to try it too. I've skated a few times in my teens, I even had one, but I found the mini completely different. But after a few failed attempts, I managed to skate a little.
Quite the radical athlete she is. It wasn't so humiliating after all. 🤣
And speaking of humiliation, there was this little darling who was skating at the UFJF skate park too and, well, it was just humiliation after humiliation for me. The little girl reminded me A LOT of when I was about her age, totally fearless and loved showing off my skills in front of those who didn't really know.
This Sunday was much better than the last one. Realizing that I'm improving again, even if slowly, makes me happy. I've been away for a long time and skating is something I really enjoy. I'm already looking forward to next week.

Mantendo as resoluções de ano novo e como promessas são dívidas, fui à UFJF pelo segundo domingo consecutivo para me livrar da ferrugem patinando.
E comecei a notar minha 'progressão'.
Depois de colocar meus patins, já conseguia ficar de pé sozinha e o medinho estava desaparecendo. Estava me sentindo um pouco mais confiante nos meus movimentos, embora ainda estivessem bastante mal executados. 🤷♀
No início do dia, ainda estava indo devagar, mas patinar estava fluindo melhor... então percebi que os joelheiras estavam limitando meus movimentos, muito apertadas. Quando comprei meu equipamento, eu era muuuuuito menos gorda do que estou agora e elas serviam bem, agora vou precisar fazer alguns ajustes nos elásticos, pra ficar confortável novamente enquanto não perco peso suficiente (o que também faz parte das minhas promessas para 2024).
Então, decidi ser um pouco maluca e tirei os joelheiras. Totalmente imprudente, porque sou jornalista, trabalho digitando o dia todo e se eu caísse e machucasse o pulso, tiraria alguns dias de folga forçada - e sem receber por isso. (alô, PJotização)
Mas, surpreendentemente, me senti menos incomodada, com movimentos mais livres e comecei a patinar muito melhor. Até decidi tentar alguns movimentos aleatórios. Todos saíram bem feios, mas o que conta é a intenção.
Além dos meus patins, @michupa levou o mini skate de novo e decidi tentar também. Já andei de skate algumas vezes na adolescência, até tive um, mas achei o mini completamente diferente. Depois de algumas tentativas fracassadas, consegui andar um cadico.
Muito radical elazinha. Não foi tão humilhante afinal. 🤣
E falando em humilhação, teve uma mini querida que tava patinando na pista de skate lá da UFJF também e, aí assim, foi só humilhação, atrás de humilhação para/com a minha pessoa. A garotinha me lembrou MUITO de quando eu tinha mais ou menos a idade dela, era totalmente destemida e adorava mostrar minhas habilidades na frente de quem não sabia direito.
Este domingo foi muito melhor do que o anterior. Percebendo que estou melhorando novamente, mesmo que lentamente, me deixa feliz. Estive afastada por muito tempo e patinar é algo que realmente gosto. Já tô ansiosa pra semana que vem.

i think its cool you are using skating to lose weight. people who skate are lucky they have a form of exercise that is so fun. make sure you break a sweat when you are out there. dont get hurt but skate hard! i also support the notion of you picking up a skateboard, and doing that instead. i think skateboarding uses more muscles and will help you lose weight faster and is probably 10 times cooler than roller skating but thats just my opinion
I totally agree! I hate the gym, so I started looking for other sports I enjoy to get some exercise. Roller skating and volleyball are my favorites, but skateboarding is starting to win my heart too!
