Pest Fighters of Bangkok for #Monomad Challenge

Keep taking images of street cats. 🙂 Thinking about creating an Instagram about street cats and even maybe selling prints... and, at last, getting rich. 😄 Daydreaming but who knows, collecting more images at the time.

My first walk with that idea in my mind ended with finding cats walking wires (check the last post of mine), one of them:

Inspired by this lucky find, I continued exploring the city, or, as I called it, catsploring.

On March 14, 2024, I headed to Pathum Wan district to catsplore its shabby quarters adjacent to Hua Lamphong train station.

Sharing what I found there:

A lot!

Was it a special day with rats were parading for their rights or it's just the surroundings of the railway station are always this, not sure.

Happily, pest controllers are always on alert:

😀

Speaking seriously, I worry for this old male. I saw several fat rats around him. One day, they can see he is too old and lose fear.

Look how daring one of them is:

Probably, the rat wanted cat food I gifted the old guardian.

Hopefully, younger cats will join the service...

Keep walking.

That was a simple-looking cat, it was in a shady alley, no fancy sunlight... So, I took a couple of images without enthusiasm and wanted to leave. But then a lady appeared:

She had a talk to the cat and then, all of a sudden, the cat jumped on the lady's back:

That was a bright moment. I love those emotions on the faces but I had no time to think about framing, and that's how that blurred motorbike appeared in the background.

On my way, I visited a yard where I had previously seen cats walking on sheds of a shabby building's exterior. This was the main reason I chose this area to catsplore but, alas, it doesn't work this way. I found no cats there; zero.

But I was lucky to discover one more cute spot to photograph cats. This:

These are canopies over street food shops, connected with some a roof, which I believe can be a good source of cats, I mean, that orange monster might be one of several.

I noticed the scene from far, and I was running across the street with traffic and shooting at the same time. Loved that ginger bear cat...

I will definitely include this spot in my Bangkok catsploring routes. If there is more than one cat patrolling this peculiar roofway, I have a good chance to photograph a cat walking on canopies or jumping, etc.

I'll continue the catsploring series with a post about cats living at railroad slums neighborhood; that was a good adventure a couple of days ago! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, comments are welcome, cheers! 😎

More images and stories from Southeast Asia are ahead! Check out the previous ones on my personal Pinmapple map.

I took these images with a Nikkor 70-300mm on a full-frame DSLR Nikon D750 on March 14, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand.
