Bee And Tee On Vacation.

I cannot tell if I'm a dog person or a cat person because I've had my time with both species and I have enjoyed having them around. So instead of picking a side, I can say that I absolutely love having pets around.

I grew up with a dog who was older than me. Yes! My dog as a kid–Cous Cous–was a few years older than me. Cous Cous was huge and scary to strangers but she was one of the most adorable sights I beheld as a kid (only preceded by peppered chicken). I remember having so much fun with her. Eventually, She died of old age when I was about 10 years old and that was one very sad moment for me. I wasn't interested in pets till my cats were given to me.

However, I wouldn't be talking about my cats and her kittens today, I would be sharing with you my experience with dogs after a long while. My sister had to travel for a few weeks and she thought it best to leave her puppies in my care. I obviously welcomed them–Bee (female) and Tee (male)– with open arms but a few minutes later, uncertainty set in. What was I going to do with these hyperactive puppies? Where would they sleep? What do they even like to eat? Best believe, I eventually figured it all out.

Bee and Tee are standard American Eskimos. They are really cuddly and very intelligent. During their vacation with me, they literally went everywhere with me. Leaving the house to run any errand was a tug of war each time because they always wanted to tag along but still I enjoyed their company.

Whenever I took them out for random walks or just outside the compound, they took the opportunity to rub themselves in so much dirt. As they are very active puppies with fluffy white coats, I had to bath them regularly to maintain their white colour. Surprisingly, they maintained so much composure while having a bath which is the direct opposite of what happens while I bathe my cat.

After each bathing session, I have to apply and rub in their pet powder but again, there was nothing gentle about that process. I usually used latex gloves to apply the powder and every time, my gloves were torn to shreds either by their tiny teeth or their trimmed nails.

During their stay, Bee and Tee made it a point of duty to photobomb every picture I took of my crochet project but surprisingly, they made the images look even more realistic.

One funny moment with them was the day they were to get vaccinated. The veterinarian doctor came over to the house with his equipment. It felt like Bee and Tee knew what he came for because immediately they saw him, they ran behind me. After so much screaming, fighting and resisting, they got their dose of vaccine and as expected, they liked the veterinarian doctor a lot less.

Apart from the excessive attention Bee and Tee craved, I totally enjoyed having them around, taking them on walks and racing with them (although they beat me to it each time). I would certainly have them over again soon and I hope the experience would be as delightful as the first time.
