Movie recommendation Day 3: DON’T LOOK UP (2021). You might like it.

Hello dear Hivers.
On today’s episode on movie recommendation you might like Day 3:

“Don’t look up”. Literally.
Yes that is the title.

I talked about climate change in my blog here and how I stumbled on a trend on Twitter that relates to the topic.
That was where I initially saw the movie name and finally I had the time to complete watching so I’m here with a review!

The writers did immensely well with the plot of the movie. They wrote each character with precision and were a little bit sarcastic with it.
It is a science fiction genre with a little bit of drama and a touch of comedy.
The actors as well depicted their part impressively well.
Though one thing I thought while watching was “damn they spent a lot”.
There were so many a list actors both as main and background characters.

THE PLOT
The movie in short is mainly about the world likely to end.
A female scientist discovered a planet-annihilating comet almost the size of Mount Everest approaching Earth at a not so slow rate.
Because it was discovered by her, it was named after her. Pretty cool right?
That aside, they desperately fear for the worst. They did their best to warn the president and the press on the danger to come but judging by numerous conspiracy theories and false predictions from the past, they were merely taken seriously.
The press tried to sugar coat the scientists predictions on live stream interviews and this was not helping matters or helping the scientists in any way.
The President also did the same. Instead of destroying the comet at the early stage they discovered it, the White House found a way to generate profit from minerals the comet might bring to earth.

Moreover, even upon the discouragement and let downs from the media houses, the press and the government, these scientists did not give up. They were keen on spreading the word and doing the best they possibly can to cease the comet from destroying our planet. Even upon all threats and despondency.
That was one thing I love about the movie.
The resilience.

Another part that made me giggle was the scientists reaction when she found out her partner’s act :)

Furthermore, for the fact that two eminently dedicated scientists saw something life threatening and even went a long way to inform the White House but still weren’t taken seriously infuriated my nerves.
Questions like;

“what would they gain if they were lying” came to mind.

In addition, these scientists were obviously panicking, isn’t that scary enough?
Upon all that, even the President saw them as a laughing stock.

An interesting fact I found out on Twitter was that the movie was re enacted from real life.
Real life scientists are crying out to the masses that they fear for climate change, crop failure etc. in years to come.
Diving deeper into the thread, I saw videos of some scientists protesting almost similar to this movie.
They were interviewed by the press on live stream but were also not taken seriously. I am unaware of how true this is but for what it’s worth, I see a similarity.

Did the comet end up destroying the earth? Did the Government listen to the scientists and destroy the comet before it approaches Earth? Or did they successfully manage to manipulate the comet and gain profit from its minerals?
Find out after watching.
In my books, this is a 4/5 star rating.
Worth a watch and really educational.

Thanks for reading. 💗
