In the heart of the coastal city of Puerto Cabello, Carabobo state - Venezuela, is one of the stadiums belonging to the first division soccer team of Venezuela Academia Puerto Cabello, a team that has the merit of being one of the few Venezuelan soccer teams that have their own stadium. Its original name is Socialist Sports Complex, but it is known as La Bombonerita de Puerto Cabello, due to La Bombonera stadium of the Boca Juniors team of Buenos Aires - Argentina.

Said stadium was built on a land, which previously operated another sports complex, which had soccer fields, basketball, tennis and swimming pools, and was known as Inca, until in 2013, its construction would begin, until its completion on June 25, 2017, under the design of the architect Jesus Meza, who had to deal with enhancing the foundations of this stadium, because its location is not so favorable, due to the fact that it is located in the heart of the city, and there is no longer so much space for more construction, which is why they took this land, where previously there was another sports complex.

La Bombonerita is a small stadium, where between 7000 to 8000 fans can attend, with only one main grandstand, although there are rumors of a possible construction of other grandstands, but first they would have to demolish other buildings that are located around it. While this stadium can be perceived with a modern architectural style, its materials are composed mainly of concrete and steel, with a simple but modern design, especially for the facade of the only grandstand of the stadium.

Now, this grandstand apart from having bleachers for the capacity of those who attend. It is composed internally of V.I.P. rooms, press rooms, administrative offices, as well as commercial premises, and of course exclusive dressing rooms for players and referees. So there was a good planning of its interior design.

On the other hand, some important points of this stadium, is that it has lighting towers of the latest technology, perhaps even at the level of the stadiums in Europe, because in Venezuela, the last modernization of the stadiums in Venezuela was in the Copa America in 2007. In addition to having a playing field of completely natural grass and with excellent water drainage, so it is never a problem for a soccer match during heavy rains.

All the aspects mentioned above are undoubtedly positive, although from my point of view, I would like to mention some criticisms about this stadium. First of all, in spite of having a very central location, the truth is that from the experience of the inhabitants of the area, they have made claims that since the construction of this stadium was completed, they have been affected by water stagnation during the rains, I can certify this because I have attended games where it has rained a lot, and when I leave the stadium, it is an odyssey because of the amount of stagnant water in the streets, ironically in contrast to the field area, which has good drainage and remains almost intact, without generating stagnation.

Another negative aspect is that this stadium does not have a parking lot. A point that has always seemed strange to me, because according to FIFA requirements, all first division stadiums must have their own parking lot, and I imagine that it was impossible to build a parking lot, due to the limited space available. In addition to mentioning the low capacity, of course it is not a stadium for international games, so it is discarded for international club tournaments or even competition games of the national soccer team, mainly for not meeting the necessary capacity and having a parking lot, as estimated in the regulations of FIFA and CONMEBOl, an extension of FIFA, which is responsible for the organization of South American soccer sporting events.

Despite these criticisms that I could mention, which also have to do with the design and construction of this work, this stadium seems to me to have a nice design, having the basics in its facilities, with reference to the sporting event and what is necessary for the public, but if it would have more space, it would be much better facilities. But undoubtedly, it is one of the only stadiums in Venezuela, which is well maintained and has the best grammage and illumination of the whole country.

All photographs are my own and were taken with a Samsung A32 camera.

I had the opportunity to go to the bombonera, and if it looks a lot like it, it's even located in a very central place; This pe seems to be more spacious inside.
Cheers

You mean La Bombonera in Buenos Aires ? Then it is the same as this stadium, everything around it is very conglomerate, but inside the stadium there is that perception of space, despite having only one grandstand. Greetings !

if I mean that Bombonera; ok, it must have structural elements similar to the real Bombonera because I remember it with several stands and less spacious!!
Cheers!

It looks a bit similar, but auk lacks the other stands, although La Bombonera in Argentina is a sporting and architectural jewel.

Good evening, I am very pleased to know that Carabobo has this stadium for those young soccer talents and if it is relatively characteristic in our country not to have space for a parking lot when the stadium is created, the same thing happened in a stadium that is being built in La Guairá-Vargas first built the stadium and then they thought they didn't have a parking lot, so they later looked for a way to put one.

Another negative aspect is that this stadium does not have a parking lot.

This is absolutely surprising because, for large projects such as this stadium, parking slots for public use are mandatory as required by the building councils of cities or municipalities around the world. As a common practice, construction permits are not issued to architectural works unless they have strictly complied with the necessary space planning requirements like compulsory parking areas prior to approval. 😊

So I was surely scratching my head when I learned about this. Aside from the limited land allocation, what could be other reasons for this critical mistake @wilfredocav?

It seems unusual, but one aspect that I did not mention in the post because I did not see it appropriate, is that all this has a political background, and is that both the team and the stadium belongs to the governor of the state, and made the arbitrary decision to build the stadium in that location, even knowing that there were many limitations regarding parking, as well as could also generate problems in the surrounding area. I think it would have been better for this stadium to be in another location, but because of what was said before, I wanted to do it in that place, let's say without previous planning. They even recently made an expansion of the playing field, and they had to take a part of a service road, taking away space from the access areas in that sector. On the one hand, the stadium has a good grammage planning, it is undoubtedly the best in my country, as well as an adequacy of the necessary facilities and lighting of the latest technology, but obviously there are these errors, which make us think, how is it possible that there is such a construction, without meeting the requirements. The soccer federations supervise these points, even they themselves have their own team of engineers and architects, who supervise the facilities, but in my country sometimes they are not aware of such situations.

Right. I also had the impression that this project was politically motivated. Too bad the stadium could have complied with international architectural standards and become a world-class sports facility, thus also increasing its touristic appeal. Anyway I don't want to be blaming anyone for the mishaps but was simply curious on why these outcomes happen. Many thanks for this interesting development. 😊
