Hello to all who love to travel,

Migratory birds spend different seasons in different places. They migrate twice a year. I liken myself to migratory birds. Because when I work, I do not have the opportunity to go anywhere other than work. But during the annual leave, I set a route for myself like migratory birds and start my journey on that route.

This is how I wrote my introduction. Because I saw this place, which I will tell you about in my article, on the side of the road while I was on vacation. It was a nice stopover after a long drive. At the same time, I learned a lot while resting.

Göçmen kuşlar farklı mevsimleri farklı yerlerde geçirirler. Yılda 2 kere göç ederler. Bende kendimi göçmen kuşlara benzetirim. Çünkü çalıştığım zaman işyerinden başka bir yere gitme fırsatım olmaz. Fakat yıllık izin zamanında adeta göçmen kuşlar gibi kendime bir rota belirler ve o rota üzerinde gezime başlarım.

Giriş yazımı bu şekilde yazdım. Çünkü yazımda sizlere anlatacağım bu yeri tatile giderken yol kenarında gördüm. Uzun bir araba yolculuğundan sonra güzel bir mola yeri oldu. Aynı zamanda dinlenirken bir çok şey öğrenmiş oldum.

The location in the photo is in Aydın, Turkey. The name of this island is Pigeon Island. There is a ten-minute walk to reach the island. We started our walk by watching the Pigeon Island and the peninsulas around it from afar.

Fotoğraftaki yer Türkiye'nin Aydın ilindedir. Bu Adanın ismi Güvercin Adasıdır. Adaya on dakikalık yürüme mesafesi vardır. Uzaktan güvercin adasını ve çevresindeki yarım adaları seyrederek yürüyüşümüze başladık.

A port was added later to make it easy to reach Pigeon Island. In this way, the island can be reached on foot. Ship tours are organized in the port, visiting the surrounding beaches and coves. The ships here are decorated like pirate ships, but I have no idea why they decorated them like that. Probably to kidnap people. :)

Güvercin adasına ulaşımın kolay olması için sonradan bir liman eklenmiş. Bu sayede adaya yürüyerek ulaşım sağlanabiliyor. Liman içerisinde çevre sahilleri ve koyları gezen gemi turları düzenleniyor. Buradaki gemiler korsan gemisi gibi süslenmiş fakat neden bu şekilde süslemişler bir fikrim yok. Muhtemelen insanları kaçırmak için olabilir. :)

The water of the port, which we passed over while walking towards the island, looked very beautiful. Looking from above, I could see everything under the sea with all its clarity. I have always loved clean and clear waters. I didn't go into the sea to swim here. But I had the opportunity to swim in this clear water at the nearby beach. I continued to walk, watching the beautiful sea that turned my head.

Adaya doğru ilerlerken üzerinden geçtiğimiz limanın suyu çok güzel gözüküyordu. Yukarıdan bakıldığında denizin altındaki herşeyi tüm netliğiyle görebiliyordum. Temiz ve berrak olan suları her zaman çok sevmişimdir. Burada yüzmek için denize girmedim. Fakat yakın çevredeki plajda bu berrak suya girme fırsatım oldu. Başımı döndüren güzellikteki denizi seyrederek yüremeye devam ettim.

Finally, I reached Pigeon Island. There was an informative post at the entrance. In this article, he mentioned that there is a castle in the island and that the castle was built to protect the surrounding harbor and the coast. On it, we can see the photographs of Pigeon Island taken in the past years. In addition, because many migratory birds come to this island, they named it Pigeon Island.

Sonunda Güvercin Adasına ulaştım. Girişte bilgilendirici bir yazı vardı. Bu yazıda ise Ada içerisinde bir kale olduğundan ve kalenin çevre limanı ve sahili korumak için yapıldığından bahsediyordu. Üzerinde Güvercin adasının geçmiş yıllarda çekilen fotoğraflarınıda görebiliyoruz. Ayrıca bu adaya bir çok göçmen kuş geldiğinden Güvercin Adası ismini vermişler.

Entry to the Citadel inside the island was forbidden. So I came across a statue while wandering around. The statue belongs to Barboros Hayrettin Pasha, who had the castle rebuilt in the 16th century. At the bottom of the statue, there was detailed information about the pasha.

Ada içerisindeki Kaleye giriş yasaktı. Bu yüzden çevresinde gezerken bir heykele rastladım. Heykel 16. yüzyılda Kaleyi tekrar inşaa ettiren Barboros Hayrettin Paşa'ya ait. Heykelin alt kısmında paşa hakkında detaylı bilgilerde yer alıyordu.

It was forbidden to enter the castle. But I wanted to take a closer look. When I looked through the iron braided castle window, I came across something I had not seen before. It was a skeleton, but I still didn't understand what it was.

When I asked the tourists around, they said that this skeleton belonged to the orca. I was very excited to see the skeleton of the orca, which I had never even seen alive before.

Kale içerisine girmek yasaktı. Fakat daha yakından bakmak istedim. Demir örgülü kale penceresinden içeri baktığımda daha önce görmediğim bir şeyle karşılaştım. Bu bir iskeletti fakat ne olduğunu hala anlamış değildim.

Çevredeki turistlere sorduğumda bu iskeletin orkaya ait olduğunu söylediler. Daha önce canlı halde bile görmediğim orkanın iskeletini görmek beni çok heyecanlandırdı.

The orca here has been washed ashore before and has been taken under protection by certain organizations. Later, they said that he was brought into the castle and hid here.

Buradaki orka daha önceleri karaya vurmuş ve belirli kuruluşlar tarafından koruma altına alınmış. Daha sonrasında kale içerisine getirilerek burada saklandığını söylediler.

I learned a lot of things on Pigeon Island that I didn't know before. In the informative article at the entrance, I read that migratory birds stop by. But when I went, I did not see any migratory birds. It was not the time to emigrate for them. :) Anyway, I saw an orca skeleton that I hadn't seen before.

I am happy to share what I have learned with you. After a nice break, I'm on the road again. There are many more places to visit.

Güvercin adasında daha önce bilmediğim bir çok şey öğrendim. Girişteki bilgilendirici yazıda göçmen kuşların uğradıklarını okumuştum. Fakat gittiğim zamanda herhangi bir göçmen kuş göremedim. Onlar için göç zamanı değildi heralde. :)Neyse daha önce görmediğim orka iskeleti görmüş oldum.

We can travel freely in limited periods of our lives. That's why I like to go to places that I have not seen around me and on the road while I travel. It gives me a lot of experience. It was an enjoyable trip for me.
