The massive update that hit us this season brought us many goodies, including 43 new soul bound reward cards.

Underneath this, a huge buff came to the ability Dispel.

Here's the story of how the humble Venari Crystalsmith took down Kron the Undying

Brief history of Dispel

Dispel was historically an ability that players don't think much about.

At lower leagues, it does nothing to increase your chances of winning a battle.

At higher leagues, you will usually have it as a freebie since your monsters will have a ton of abilities. Plus, it doesn't really remove anything useful.

It's a good to have, but it rarely does anything substantial for you.

The new Dispel

With the newest update, the Splinterlands team has introduced a new ability called Martyr.

It buffs adjacent monsters with +1 to all stats when the monster with Martyr dies.

Basically, it gives a Bloodlust buff to them.

In a Townhall, the Splinterlands team confirmed with the community that Dispel will gain the ability to remove both Martyr and Bloodlust buffs.

This caused huge speculation within the community regarding Dispel, praising the long-overdue buff and possible meta changes.

Imagine my surprise when my Venari Crystalsmith dispelled the Kron's Last Stand in this battle.

Is it a bug?

It is possible that this is an unintended bug that the Splinterlands team has coded into the game.

Hawks21 has already covered the bug of Dispell removing Scavenger and life leeching all the HP.

Whether Dispel is set to remove all these buffs in the game or not, only time will tell after the Splinterlands team works on it.
