Upon first glance, any passers-by would think this was a long abandoned town but at night it came to life.
The inhabitants lived in underground dwellings during the heat of the day and only came out after the sun set. It was a desert the people were working on to change to a land of plenty of food and they found night time to not only be a cooler time to work but also better for gardening.
The empty appearance of the cabins hid not just crops and wells, but also the entrances to the underground living quarters.
Young Lana was usually the first to go topside so she was charged with keeping track of the movement of the sun. Her uncle had created a time dial to help her with the job and she treasured it.
She sat near the stairs in anticipation as night grew closer. She enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the preparations for the nights activities.
Everyone was moving crates to stairwells located through our the underground complex so they could then just carry them up the stairs and out into the night.
Tonight was to be special. It was a full moon eclipse. A powerful night for a planting celebration.
