WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING
WHAT I DO FOR A LIVING
I'm a phone and laptop repairman, and I'm proud of what I do. It's been a long journey to get here, and I'm grateful for how far I've come. God has been good to me, helping me through the challenges. While it's not always easy, His grace keeps me going.
My job involves fixing phones and laptops when they break. I also sell phones and the things that go with them, like chargers and cases. It's work that I enjoy and find fulfilling.
I did not know anything about fixing computers or phones when I started this work. I had a lot to learn. Both patience and time were needed. On other days, I wanted to give up because it seemed too difficult. Still, I persisted in challenging myself to improve and learn more.
Now, when someone brings me a broken phone or laptop, I feel confident that I can help them. It is a great feeling to take something that is not working and make it work again. I love seeing the relief and happiness on people's faces when I hand them back their fixed device.
This job has taught me a lot about technology. I've learned how phones and laptops work on the inside. I know about the different parts and how they fit together. It is like solving a puzzle every time I open up a device to fix it.
But my job is more than just fixing things. It's also about helping people. Many of my customers depend on their phones and laptops for work or to stay in touch with family. When these devices break, it can cause a lot of stress. By fixing their devices quickly and well, I'm helping to make their lives easier.
Selling phones and accessories is another part of my job that I enjoy. I like helping people find the right phone for their needs and budget. It feels good to match someone with a device that will serve them well.
This work has taught me a lot about running a business too. I've had to learn about managing money, dealing with suppliers, and providing good customer service. These skills are valuable not just for my current job, but for any future work I might do.
In this job, there have been difficult moments. There are occasions when a product is beyond repair, leaving me to disappoint the consumer. At other times, I've had to cope with challenging clients who refuse to be satisfied no matter what I do. I've learnt patience and how to handle challenging circumstances from these experiences.
I'm proud of how far I've come in this field. When I started, I knew very little. Now, I can fix complex problems and even teach others some of what I know. It's a good feeling to be an expert in something.
I've learnt the value of honesty and integrity via my work. People entrust me with their personal data and pricey gadgets. I always make an effort to respect my customers' privacy and to be truthful about what I can and cannot do.
Looking ahead, I see a lot of potential in this field. Technology is always changing, which means there's always something new to learn. I'm excited about the future and the new challenges it will bring.
This job has given me a steady income and the ability to support myself. That's something I'm very thankful for. It's allowed me to be independent and to help my family when they need it.
I am aware that some people may consider this type of labour to be less significant than other types of work. However, I'm not sure. My work is crucial in the modern world where we rely so heavily on our phones and computers. I'm thrilled to contribute to individuals staying in touch and working productively.
So when people ask me what I do for a living, I'm happy to tell them. I'm a phone and laptop repairman, and I'm proud of it. It's honest work that helps people and challenges me to keep learning and growing. I'm grateful for this job and for how far it's brought me.
