Social Media Challenge || My Thoughts on the New Battle Interface | 2 Uraeus Battles
Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.
In this post, I will give my opinion on the new Battle Interface and share some battles using Uraeus.
New Update on Splinterlands
Last week, Splinterlands made some updates and added new features. You can read more about it here (LINK). I'm not going to summarize all the updates Splinterlands has made, I just want to give my opinion on one of the updates, the Battle Interface.
Battle Interface
NEW | OLD |

If you look, the new Battle Interface is arguably simpler and easier on the eyes than the old one. In addition, the links that lead to the Battle have also changed in some parts.
Unfortunately, that's just the exterior. In my experience, the new Battle Interface made my device's performance heavier. It even crashed several times in unpredictable conditions. It could be when starting a battle, in the middle of selecting units and setting up formations, in the middle of a battle, towards the end of a battle, or even when looking for opponents.
Meanwhile, when using the old Battle Interface, although it was a little heavy, I rarely encountered crash. And even then, it was only when the battle was over that I could still enjoy the battle.
If you think this problem happened because I didn't lower graphics in the settings menu, you can see it below.
I had it set up like this even before the new Battle Interface appeared. Since my device has fairly low specifications, I set it to the lowest position.
Hopefully, this can still be fixed so that I can enjoy battles comfortably using the new Battle Interface. And for now (until the new Battle Interface doesn't crash on my device), I will use the old Battle Interface to share my battles.
1st Battle
The ruleset for this battle is SHADES OF GRAY (Only Neutral units can be used in this ruleset), EXPLOSIVE WEAPONRY (all monsters in the arena receive an additional BLAST ability), and FIRE & REGRET (all monsters in the arena receive an additional RETURN FIRE ability)
In Round 1, Xenith Archer attacked the opponent's Halfling Refugee and dealt additional damage to Legionnaire Alvar. However, due to the FIRE & REGRET Ruleset, he took damage from the RETURN FIRE ability twice because the attack he launched hit 2 targets. Meanwhile, Uraeus targets his attack at Legionnaire Alvar and deals additional damage to the opponent's Halfling Refugee using the BLAST ability.
On the opponent's side, only Halfling Refugee can attack. Meanwhile, Legionnaire Alvar does not have any of the targeting abilities that allow him to attack from any position. My opponent's Halfling Refugee dealt damage to mine and Venari Marksrat also took damage from the BLAST ability due to the attack.
Venari Marksrat failed to land its attack on the opponent's Halfling Refugee. Meanwhile, my Halfling Refugee can't attack because he received an exhausted effect from his WEARY ability.
In the second round, Xenith Archer again took damage from the RETURN FIRE ability when he attacked the opponent's Halfling Refugee and dealt additional damage to Legionnaire Alvar. Uraeus is still trying to damage Legionnaire Alvar's ARMOR and deal additional damage to the opponent's Halfling Refugee using the BLAST ability.
My opponent's Halfling Refugee defeated my Halfling Refugee. He also defeated Venari Marksrat through BLAST ability. However, the defeat of Venari Marksrat added 1 point to all of Uraeus's stats (making some of his stats go back to where they were before receiving debuffs from the opponent).
In the third round, Uraeus defeated the opponent's Halfling Refugee while damaging almost all of Legionnaire Alvar's ARMOR. Then the attack continued on Xenith Archer who damaged all of Legionnaire Alvar's remaining ARMOR. But he also had to lose due to receiving damage from RETURN FIRE ability. Legionnaire Alvar damaged all of Uraeus's ARMOR and dealt additional damage through the BLAST ability on Chaos Agent.
In the fourth round, Uraeus attacked and inflicted a poison effect on Legionnaire Alvar. Meanwhile, Legionnaire Alvar defeated Chaos Agent via BLAST ability when he attacked Uraeus.
In the final round, Uraeus defeated Legionnaire Alvar after having his HP reduced by the poison effect in the previous round.
2nd Battle
The ruleset for this battle is MIGHT MAKES RIGHT (We are only allowed to use units that have Attack power of 3 points or more.)
In the first round, Regal Peryton attacked Imperial Knight. But because Imperial Knight had the MAGIC REFLECT ability, he returned part of the attack and dealt damage to Regal Peryton. Ajax Lightfoot attacked Pelacor Mercenary but he was immediately defeated by attacks from Iza the Fanged and Uraeus.
Pelacor Mercenary damaged the remaining ARMOR of Imperial Knight. Meanwhile, Imperial Knight attacks and reduces Pelacor Mercenary's HP. RETALIATE ability of Pelacor Mercenary activates, making him counter the attack from Imperial Knight that was directed at him.
The last attack of the round came from Djinn Biljka who attacked Imperial Knight even though he also took damage from the MAGIC REFLECT ability. But because Djinn Biljka has the VOID ability, the damage he received was almost life-threatening.
In the deciding round, Regal Peryton managed to defeat Imperial Knight despite taking damage through MAGIC REFLECT. Gobson Bomber actually had the opportunity to attack after Regal Peryton. But because Imperial Knight was defeated first, he now fills the first position and cannot attack because he does not have CLOSE RANGE ability.
Even so, Gobson Bomber can still dodge the attacks attempted by Pelacor Mercenary and Uraeus. He can only be defeated after taking damage from attacks launched by Iza the Fanged and Djinn Biljka.
Battle Review
Using Uraeus can be a solution when in battle with very limited Mana. SNEAK and POISON abilities can be quite troublesome weapons because if they successfully hit a target (who does not have the IMMUNITY ability), then the effects of the poison cannot be cleaned unless they use Sanctus Vicar who has the CLEANSE REARGUARD ability.
Those are the kinds of things I discussed in this Social Media Challenge. Thank you for reading to the end and see you in other discussions in next week's Social Media Challenge.

Nice battles! Uraeus is a great card, especially as soon as he gains poison. I hope they get all the little things in the new interface fixed quickly :-)
