Social Media Challenge || Facing Enemy that use some New Cards

Hi, everyone. Welcome to my post. In the Social Media Challenge, I will discuss anything about SPLINTERLANDS, it can be about cards, abilities, rulesets, battle reviews, End of Season results, or my playing experience.

I'll share my battles against Eternal Tofu and other cards I rarely encounter in this post.

Facing against some New Cards

In the battle I'm about to share this time, I faced an opponent who used not just 1 card that I rarely see, but 3 cards at once.

Quillin Legionary is one of the latest Soulbound Reward cards introduced by SPLINTERLANDS in August this year (August 15 to be precise). So in the next few weeks, I will see cards like this even though they are not at their maximum level yet. Even so, Quilliun Legionary can be an option when dealing with Melee monsters. Because even though it is only level 2, Quilliun Legionary already has the THORNS ability which deals damage to Melee monsters when they successfully attack it. Quilliun Legionary can also be placed in the first position because it has the CLOSE RANGED ability which allows it to attack in that position.

Venka the Vile is one of the Legendary Cards that can only be obtained (contested) when you buy and stake Rebellion Packs or Cards in large quantities. At level 4, Venka the Vile has an ability that is very powerful if not dampened with certain abilities. Her CHARGE and PIERCING abilities allow her to attack from any position regardless if the opponent has ARMOR or not. If not mitigated with abilities like SHIELD or FORCEFIELD , then be prepared that your monster can be defeated in one attack.

Eternal Tofu is just like Venka the Vile in terms of getting it. Eternal Tofu is a Legendary Dual Summoner for Life and Earth Element. It has a main ability that grants an additional 2 Health points as well as SNARE and THORNS abilities to all monsters. SNARE ability will be beneficial when dealing with FLYING monsters while THORNS can deal damage to Melee monsters that attack targets that have this ability.

To deal with these 3 monsters that I rarely saw, I used the formation below.

The ruleset for this battle is FIRE & REGRET (All monsters receive an additional ability in the form of RETURN FIRE )

To overcome Venka the Vile, it would be better to use monsters that have FORCEFIELD abilities such as Mycelic Slipspawn so that the attacks he launches only deal 1 point of damage. As for Quilliun Legionary, of course, it is enough to use Magic Monsters so that they can directly reduce his Health points even though he has ARMOR.

And to avoid the SNARE effect of Eternal Tofu, I avoided using monsters that have the FLYING ability (which is usually my go-to when using Quix the Devious). Instead, I used Djinn Chwala which has high Attack power (and will increase when in RAGE Mode). Although he will be hit by THORNS later, I'm not too worried about it because he has a lot of ARMOR.

In the first round, Venka the Vile tried to attack Mycelic Slipspawn with her full power but could be suppressed using the FORCEFIELD ability so that the damage received by Mycelic Slipspawn was only 1 point. The Quilliun Legionary is directly defeated by the Twilight Basilisk, Mycelic Slipspawn, and Djinn Chwala. But while defeating them, Djinn Chwala and Twilight Basilisk took ARMOR damage due to the THORNS ability that Quilliun Legionary had.

Venka the Vile, who was in first place, was attacked by Queen Mycelia and Spirit Hoarder. Doctor Blight attacked Mycelic Slipspawn.

In the second round, Venka the Vile was hit by an attack from Twilight Basilisk and was stunned so she couldn't attack Djinn Chwala. This was taken advantage of by Mycelic Slipspawn who managed to defeat Venka the Vile.

Djinn Chwala tried to attack Soul Fiend but only damaged his DIVINE SHIELD . While attacking Soul Fiend, Djinn Chwala lost a lot of ARMOR due to the effects of the CORROSIVE WARD and THORNS abilities. Queen Mycelia and Spirit Hoarder. Meanwhile, Doctor Blight attacks Mycelic Slipspawn and gives it a poison effect and AFFLICTION so that it cannot be healed.

The Soul Fiend who tried to attack Djinn Chwala lost to THORNS . Likewise, Dumacke Orc must be hit by THORNS when attacking Djinn Chwala.

In the third round, Twilight Basilisk and Mycelic Slipspawn defeated Dumacke Orc although Twilight Basilisk had to take damage from being hit by THORNS . Djinn Chwala and Queen Mycelia defeated Fungus Fiend though Djinn Chwala suffered the same fate as Twilight Basilisk, taking damage from THORNS .

Spirit Hoarder tried to attack Doctor Blight but only hit DIVINE SHIELD. Meanwhile, Doctor Blight attacked Djinn Chwala.

Doctor Blight was only defeated in the fourth round through attacks from Djinn Chwala, Twilight Basilisk, and Mycelic Slipspawn. In defeating him, Djinn Chwala and Twilight Basilisk took damage from THORNS .

Battle Review

My success was due to my correctly guessing what formation the opponent would use in this battle. Eternal Tofu was often used by the opponent in the previous 5 battles. Meanwhile, I can guess that the opponent will use Venka the Vile because the ruleset this time (Fire & Regret) will not be favorable for Ranged monsters, so the monsters that the opponent will choose are only Melee or Magic monsters.

The opponent seems to be too focused on relying on Melee monsters and not relying more on Magic monsters (other than Doctor Blight). The use of Dumacke Orc can be replaced by Goblin Psychic which has SILENCE to reduce the Attack power of my Magic monsters and TANK HEAL which can heal some of the Health of the monsters in the first position so that they can survive longer.
